Time for Tea... maybe coffee...

I really enjoyed reading this article yesterday  http://www.aop.com/enews/hsview/200806/duggars.php   --The Duggar Family on Homeschool Organization Dh has been considering using Alpha Omega's Switched On Schoolhouse this coming year for our older two children.  We're hoping to simply cover the basics with SOS, and then use living books to round things out more.  I would like to see them engaging in their own interests in the afternoon, reading, projects, they do this anyway, part of their natural zest for learning.  I stay out of it and just listen, and admire what they are discovering. Besides that I have three more up and coming students who will require more of my time, two who are learning to read, and one in the pre-reading stage.  I am excited, as I love to watch them learning at this stage, so much like a rosebud just bursting into bloom. We were really blessed to have been able to obtain some neat learning materials last year.  I went to some yard sales and bought up reims of wonderful nature magazines, like OWL and Ranger Rick, which have sparked such wonder in the children.  They literally spend hours pouring over them and later recounting to me the things they read.  I'd always read about natural learning, but I will say I was skeptical until I saw it at work. Added bonus is that we are moving, God finally blessed us with a home to buy.  That is an exciting development.  My dh should be home this year for 12 days every month, as his shift has been overhauled, and he'll work 16 days and off for 12.  So that too, is a wonderful change for us.  Praise God!
