I don't blame you if you don't. It's been a while. Let's see if I can sum up the past few months in bullet points:
Our pastor and his wife left our church. They were the only reason we were still attending. They could use some prayers for healing in their marriage. We are now attending a home fellowship we sure enjoy.
We've been spending lots of time with some precious friends. We started hanging out with them in July (?). If a week goes by and we haven't done anything with them, we both hear it from our children. We are so thankful for them! We have a ton in common with them and every child has a buddy.
We finished up soccer in the fall and basketball season has begun. I kind of liked our Saturdays being free and not spending the day attending games- I think I enjoy watching my children play soccer more than basketball.
Millie turned 7 today.
The children will be singing in their second Christmas program tonight and have one more to go. Josiah's the youngest one up there. He said a verse he has memorized in front of everyone last time and says he wants to do it again.
Our Christmas tree resembles the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Gabe and Gracie chopped it down in our yard. It's a western red cedar and has about 7 branches, one of which Kenton had to tape back to the trunk. I love it.
My camera is gathering dust.
I still haven't finished Christmas shopping.
I didn't get Christmas cards out this year.
I haven't gotten a picture to use for December on the calendars I'm making as gifts.
We've been on field trips to a fish hatchery, gone on an underground tour of our town, and to a paint-your-own pottery store where the children made some cute mugs. They fire and glaze them. They look really nice!
We are on Christmas break for 3 weeks!
I would like to start blogging more again.
I hang out on Facebook far too much.
And that's all I can think of! Life's been super busy and some weeks it feels like we hardly get a chance to breathe! Most of it is good, fun stuff but sometimes life gets overwhelming too.
Until next time!
• Saturday, December 12, 2009 - Dressy Oven Door Kitchen Towel Update
Posted By diamondsintherough
A couple of years ago I posted a tutorial (here) for making these "dressy" kitchen towels that tie over the handle of your oven door. That page is the most often viewed on my entire blog! There must be lots of crafty ladies the world over who are looking for instructions. That old post really needed updating, and as I am now in the process of making another towel (See, Julie? I am keeping my word!), I am re-photographing each step as I go along. Since the step involving the underarm seam is difficult to explain verbally, I added a video that shows how to do it. So... I guess the point is that in case you're interested, the old tutorial is being fixed. Or if you want to hear what I sound like, you can just go watch the video for fun. Hm... Someone else I know hinted that she would like another purple dressy towel. Might have to go shopping for supplies again soon!
Are you a Sunday-morning-only Christian? What if your pastor were to take the bold approach and ask you personally the reason for your absence on Sunday evenings and at the mid-week service? Would you be offended? See what happened when this pastor did just that with his non-100% church members.
Aren't people funny? We think, "Oh, God understands..." Yes, he sure does.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;
(for he is faithful that promised;)
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love
and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Posted By Kristy
I was surprised to see rain this morning, again. But then I saw this.. It was only there for just a brief moment. I thought it was neat that it was just a streak and so low to the ground. Sorry, it's a little blurry. it was fading fast so I had to act fast.
• Thursday, December 10, 2009 - "The Dog House"--Dec 10th, 2009
Posted By Kristy
Tis the season, where many spouses (and children) will be in the 'dog house' over gift giving. . I think my hubby would agree that I tend to be very practical in my requests of gifts over my birthday or anniversary, etc. By the way, this attitude I have drives my mom crazy. Hee Hee. . Rarely, do I request a gift that is 'fancy' or 'expensive'. If I request a gift such as a vaccum or toaster (I can't imagine asking for a toaster), but if I did, I would be happy to get it. However, we have ALL gotten a gift that made us think "What were you thinking?!" or "That is NOT me!", so we can all relate to this video. Hee Hee. Sally posted this this morning on her blog. She beat me to the punch. So at the risk of being a copy cat, here is the video anyway.
• Wednesday, December 9, 2009 - Giving Thanks Always for ALL Things?
Posted By diamondsintherough
My own dear husband has never been guilty of giving me anything like a vacuum cleaner, toaster, or electric shaver for a special occasion. For those of you whose husbands might be prone to do such a thing, invite him to view this funny video with you. He will appreciate knowing about the "doghouse" before his next opportunity to be exiled to such a place.
Alizona feels sorry for the guy who was sent to the doghouse for getting his wife extra RAM memory for her computer. She thinks that would be a perfectly wonderful gift! (She's not married yet, lol!)
That is sooo funny. Did you hear the loudspeaker in the background?
I hope I would be gracious and appreciate any gift from my husband.... as in, "giving thanks always for all things."
Hee hee hee ...Sorry, I still have the giggles.
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

To my family & friends on my e mail list... If you came here looking for a post titled "King's Kids". I must have been sleepy, because I was TRYING to put it on Brandon's blog. Sigh.. So that's where you will find it. Or you can click here---> HERE. Sorry.. maybe I will go back to bed now

LOL.. It's raining out and since I didn't have anything else to blog about, here are some pictures.
Brandon and I started back to school today after a long time off. Today, I spent most all the afternoon reviewing our school work. That in itself was a challenge. But once his brain kicked in gear, it went a little smoother.
Do you know what this is? It belongs to my daughter. It is your window into myworld. My un-styled hair, my un-made-up face, the piles on my desk, the mess in my family room, the squabble between sisters in the room beyond. It is the reason why we are now moving the furniture.
