Nov. 6, 2008 - What my school had to say about our new President

I go to an online school from home. My school has a notice board. This is what my school had to say on Future President Obama: November 5th, 2008: Change is coming to America. Senator and President-to-be Barack Obama has promised to use his position to make improvements in healthcare, the economy, and foreign policy. These are exciting changes, but even more exciting is the fact that America is about to have its first African- American president ever. Former president Jimmy Carter once said, “We have become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams.” As a nation, we are truly becoming diverse. The colors of our mosaic are shining brightly, and that is reason to celebrate.

Nov. 6, 2008 - My Replies To: Anonymous, SPL9 and McCainPalin08

Nov. 5, 2008 - What? Posted by SPL9 What do you think you are talking about? Why do you have a problem with McCain having 13 cars and 8 houses. Obama has aunts living in slums and a brother living in a shack!!!! The rich are the only ones that pay taxes anyway!!! So of course rich people get tax cuts, because rich people are the majority of the ones who pay it. Permanent Link My response to both McCainPalin08 and SPL9 Frankly your inflamatory tone and name calling don't reflect well on your cause. This is not trending toward a rational discussion, but rather immature name calling. I'm inclined not to waste any further time with this. However, I'll give this another shot and try and set a more productive tone with this post. Because I am interested in learning and listening, rather than name calling and accusations, I'm interested to hear from you why you think that the rich people are the majority of the people who pay "it." Where are you getting your facts? And, do you refer to the amount paid, or the number of people paying taxes? Nov. 6, 2008 - Untitled Comment Posted by Anonymous i see that you are a proud donkey.......ok.... My Response: I'm a proud democrat. I'm proud to say that no one in my family voted for George W. Bush. P.s. Dear anonymous, Please use your user next time. I'd like to be able to read some of your views. Thanks for posting! :D Thanks for your posts! ~SNLSweetness~

Nov. 5, 2008 - Politics

Republicans: On the Issues 1. Pro Life, promoting adoption and abstinence, not abortion. 2. Do not support Same sex marriage, seeking ban at the federal level 3. Pro death penalty 4. Only legal immigrants, through tightly controlled borders. 5. Keep troops in Iraq to continue and successfully end the war on terror. Democrats: On the Issues 1. Pro Choice, every woman has a right to choose. 2. No federal Same sex marriage ban. 3. Anti- Death Penalty 4. Searching for a path for undocumented aliens to earn citizenship. 5. Restore focus to Afghanistan to avoid renewing terrorist haven Senator John McCain Republican Presidential Candidate, 2008 "Country First - Reform, Prosperity, Peace" On the Issues: Iraq: A greater military commitment now is necessary if we are to achieve long-term success in Iraq. More troops are necessary to clear and hold insurgent strongholds; to provide security for rebuilding local institutions and economies; to halt sectarian violence in Baghdad and disarm Sunni and Shia militias; to dismantle al Qaeda; to train the Iraqi Army; and to embed American personnel in Iraqi police units. Accomplishing each of these goals will require more troops and is a crucial prerequisite for needed economic and political development in the country. America's ultimate strategy is to give Iraqis the capabilities to govern and secure their own country. John McCain believes that only by controlling the violence in Iraq can we pave the way for a political settlement. Health Care: John McCain Believes The Key To Health Care Reform Is To Restore Control To The Patients Themselves. We want a system of health care in which everyone can afford and acquire the treatment and preventative care they need. Health care should be available to all and not limited by where you work or how much you make. Families should be in charge of their health care dollars and have more control over care. Gay Marriage/Abortion: John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat. Same-sex couples should be allowed to form civil unions. Marriage should be restricted to a union only between a man and a woman. Energy: Believes that we should strengthen the regulation and enforcement of the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act.States should compensate citizens when environmental regulations limit uses of privately-owned land.Believes that we should strengthen emission controls and fuel efficiency standards on all gasoline and diesel-powered engines, including cars, trucks, and sport utility vehicles. Encourages further development and use of alternative fuels to reduce pollution.Supports the use of ethanol as an alternative fuel. Budget/Economy: As president, John McCain will work to ensure that money spent by Congress, and contributed by hardworking American taxpayers, is used wisely and prudently on legitimate national priorities, not squandered on wasteful pet projects and special interest earmarks. American families rightly expect the government to wisely manage the dollars they send to Washington. As responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars, the federal government must respect the bottom line, just as families do when balancing their own checkbooks. Immigration: John McCain has always believed that our border must be secure and that the federal government has utterly failed in its responsibility to ensure that it is secure. If we have learned anything from the recent immigration debate, it is that Americans have little trust that their government will honor a pledge to do the things necessary to make the border secure. National Security: In a dangerous world, protecting America's national security requires a strong military. Today, America has the most capable, best-trained and best-led military force in the world. But much needs to be done to maintain our military leadership, retain our technological advantage, and ensure that America has a modern, agile military force able to meet the diverse security challenges of the 21st century. For more information, please visit www.johnmccain.com Democratic Presidential Candidate, 2008 "I want to campaign the same way I govern, which is to respond directly and forcefully with the truth," ~ 11/08/2007 On the Issues: Iraq Withdraw U.S. troops in phases, beginning immediately, and re-deploy some of those troops to Afghanistan. Engage neighboring states and Arab nations to help secure Iraq’s future. Boost reconstruction efforts to restore basic services in Iraq. Health Care Create a national health program, available to individuals and small businesses, to cover the uninsured. Make it mandatory to provide coverage to all children. Expand eligibility for Medicaid and that State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Require hospitals to collect and report data on the cost and quality of health care. Gay Marriage / Abortion Opposes gay marriage, but supports civil unions. Pro-Choice. Energy Reduce the amount of carbon in transportation fuels 10% by 2020. Raise the domestic fuel economy standards for cars. Expand the use of Ethanol and Hybrid cars. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and set up an auction for those emissions to fund exploration for alternative fuels. Immigration Add personnel, and improve infrastructure and technology, at our borders and ports of entry. Crack down on employers who hire illegal immigrants. Create a Guest Worker program. Institute an amnesty program, but only after border security goals have been met. National Security Expand US ground forces by 80,000 troops. Consider U.S. military action in Pakistan to target known terrorists. Increase economic pressure on Iran. Pursue greater transparency and accountability with Russia.

Nov. 5, 2008 - My Reply To MccainPalin08

Well. It's hard to know where to start. First of all Palin is irrelevant, other than the fact that 60% of McCain supporters believed that her lack of intelligence and extreme positions on a number of issues believed that she had a negative impact on his campaign. In other words she lost the election for him, regardless of her position on sex education. As for drugs, it may be more productive if we talked about affordable prescriptions and affordable healthcare for Americans. The primary feature of the McCain healthcare plan involved a $5,000 annual tax credit for healthcare. Are you aware of how much the average health care plan costs each year? 12,000-15,000. Oh, I forgot, you want to talk about who did drugs 20 years ago! Yes. Obama experimented with drugs as did George Bush, as did John McCain as did Cindy McCain, who not only did drugs, but stole them from a charitable organization. However, I don't think Obama's prior drug use is relavent and likewise, I do not think the prior drug use of any of the candidates is relavent either. Tax Plan. Obama has never, not once changed his mind about his tax plan. One of his operatives mis-stated it one time. McCain, on the other hand, voted against Bush's tax plan in the senate just last year. And then took Bush's tax plan, his exact tax plan, and used it in his platform. Now that's a huge change, wouldn't you say? To vote against a tax plan and then propose that exact plan less than a year later? John McCain ran his campaign based on the premise that he was working for ordinary people and was in touch with them. It was the profoundly out of touch way he spoke to them on the campaign trail, telling them that the economy was sound repeatedly, when it clearly was not, that really shows how out of touch he is. Having 8 homes, 13 cars, and a VP who spent 50,000 on hair and makeup and another 150,000 simply underscores how out of touch he is. To him, with all the money he receives from his wife, the wealthy beer heiress, things seemed pretty good. But for the rest of America that wasn't the case
