This is a blog inspired by a good freind's comment left on my last blog about birth control.I am thankful for the comment because it helped me to realize this issue needed to be addressed. I know there are many people out there that believe the same thing. It was said that a reason to use Natural Family Planning is for the mother's health. We don't want anyone dieing from cancer and we want a women's body to heal. I believe if you nurse right that your body won't ovulate and this is the only way that pregnancy should be prevented because it is God doing it. I don't have time to address that here but made a past blog that should shine some light on it. I am going to address the health side of things by sharing a personal story and hopefully by the end you will be convinced that "cancer" or health issues should not scare you out of having children. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a strong mind. 2 Tim 1:7.
About less than two years ago I went in for my normal pap test. It came back very bad. In fact it was so bad that they said if it was not cervical cancer it was so close to being it that the treatment options would be the same. They also said that this was very fast moving because I had a pap about a year and a half before that was completely normal. We needed to do something now.
They wanted to do a LEEP procedure which is where they cut a chunk of my cervix off. The doctor said she was going to do this because she thought that I wanted to have more children. I can not imagine what they would have wanted to do if I said I was done having children!
It just so happened that (I believe the Lord had led in this which is just awesome!!) I happened to start studying herbs and natural health about 6 months to a year before this. That could not be a coincidence because my God is too cool for it to be a coincidence. I knew enough to know that cutting a piece of my body off was not going to solve anything. What caused this? It was not a lack of surgery. I was told it was from having 4 children so close together (right now the oldest four children are 9,8,4,2 years). I knew enough to know that God gave us herbs for medicine according to the Bible.
I turned down the doctors help and boy were they mad! I got certified letters in the mail. It might be hard to read but you can copy it and zoom in on your computer if you want to read this one. This one says colposcopy but they wanted to do a LEEP instead which is more invasive than this.
During this time I could not go in for more paps for two reasons.
- My husband's insurance changed so I had no coverage. We were dirt poor for Americans and I knew it was wrong to use a free service like Planned Parenthood. I would NOT go there because my God is bigger than that and I knew that His will was for me not to go to a place like that.
- The doctor I was going to refused to do paps to monitor me because I would not take their treatments.
This was all going on before I knew about nursing like the Bible examples show us.
I ended up getting pregnant during this time which was considered a REALLY bad thing to do because of my health. The procedure that they wanted to do would "terminate" the pregnancy they said. At least now they would treat me by monitoring me with paps.
I went back for another test in April and here is what the letter from the hospital said-
I ended up better and with a beautiful, beautiful baby boy. How's that for a blessing from God?! I say all that I have to say this- It is never right to do wrong to do right. Preventing pregnancy is not right. If there is a health reason it is not the baby's fault, it is the person's fault for taking ill care of their body.
For me I was malnourished from American eating standards. I don't eat by that diet on www.hacres.com anymore but I do eat by God's law now. I don't eat that way for salvation but I still think that God gave that law for a reason. It is said in Exodus 15:26 If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee. It just so happens that cancer is a disease that the Egyptians had and they named it because the cancer masses that form look like the sign for cancer in astrology. This is now getting into another blog that I don't have time for now....maybe another day.
I hope that people that have read this are believing God and knowing he did not tell us to multiply EXCEPT when.... but is telling us to make lots of babies. If there is something wrong it is not God's fault, it is ours. His word is clear on this subject and if anybody can show me FROM SCRIPTURE why we should prevent children I would like to hear it. There are no examples that God has given us for this. He did not say -
If you are poor...
If you are sick....
If you are not a good mom...
If you are old...
If you are young....
If you have a job....
If you have too many children already.....
He gives no excuses. In fact he provides us with all the information we need in the Bible. The herbs I used to get better was a biblical concept, as well as the pregnancy, as well as the diet I used. He is an awesome God and I truly believe He has provided all the answers from His Word. Praise the Lord!!
