| That is so disgusting!!! My mouth was hanging open in shock. I don't know if I can eat pork again... |
| So you were following The Maker's Diet before The Maker's Diet was cool?! It only makes sense that the Lord would know best how to feed His creation! Thanks for the links! I posted a link to www.whfoods.com on my blog. It seems to have some good information!

| You are not the first person to bring up the Maker's Diet to me. I still have no idea what it really is. I am sure it must be a book. I think I am going to see if it is at the library sometime so I can see what all the hype is about. |
| Thanks alot. = ) I just ate a lone sausage link today at a pastor's meeting at our church. I am Miss Paranoia when it comes to worms. I barely ever eat Pork, but I won't ever again. Now I am sitting here imagining worms growing in me because of that sauasage link. I am going to go to bed with sausage links and worms dancing through my head..... |
| go to www.makers-diet.net. The book " The Makers Diet " is by Jordan Rubin of Garden of Life. You can read some about it. |
| Its still disgusting, but wouldnt the worms die during refrigeration?, storebout pork I mean, it really doesnt make it better, because they are still there, but I was just wondering,if they do, testing pork this way wouldnt really tell you it did have worms in it. So you wouldnt know you were eating them:( yuck |
| From what I read there are certain worms in pork that don't die even if you cook it at 400 degrees for 12 hours. Some worm that starts with a T...can't remember the name..... You are right, YUCK! If you want to know the name of that worm I know the book I recommended by Dr. Tabb has more information in it. Refridgeration would not kill them. It would only slow them down. That is all refrigeration ever does to anything. |
| Wow, that is actually kind of cool. Gross, but cool. It makes me actually want to purchase a ham and Coke and do a home experiment. |
| That's GREAT! I always knew coke was good for more than just drinking. It's good for dissolving blood, cleaning toilets and now marinating pork!!! Thanks for the tip! |
| This lore has been circulating the 'net for a while now. It's purely bogus. The parasite you referenced is trichinosis, which CAN be killed by cooking thoroughly. Other than the glaring factual mistakes, great article. See links:
http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/porkworm.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichinosis http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/trichinosis/factsht_trichinosis.htm#prevention |
| I will post proof tomorrow that cooking doesn't kill all the worms. It is to late to do it now..... |
| I have been eating Biblically kosher for 2 1/2 years, but I have also raised a pig and eaten him. Now from what you posted, I'm wondering if I'm still carrying those yucky worms and bugs..
EWW! |
| Citing information from a book is not 'proof.' Because you read it in a book does not make the information true. If trichinella worms cannot be killed with cooking temperatures greater than 170* F, then why is the Center for Disease Control saying that they can? Is the CDC lying to us? If so, why?
In all the research I've done online regarding Amercian autopsies and the incidence of trichinella infestation, I can find zero evidence to support that claim. The best statistical info I could find was from the CDC in 1986 (http://www.cdc.gov/mmwR/preview/mmwrhtml/00001752.htm), that indicates that there were only 51 cases of trichinosis reported *nationwide* in 1986. Granted, that was 20 years ago, but I'd wager that farmers/meat packers/consumers/etc. are better educated now, which would lead me to believe that infection rates have gone down since then, rather than up. Old farming practices and inadaquate cooking tools probably were responsible for the spread of trichinosis, but I'd be very surprised if well-cooked store-purchased pork could harbor disease. Have you tried the Coke and pork experiment? As I noted previously, Snopes.com has, and no worms were noted. You can see various video experiments over at Youtube, just search on 'worm pork.' There's not a single video over there that looks even a little bit persuasive. Also, I would like more information on the Dr. Manley mentioned, as without a full name, it's quite difficult to narrow down this person's field of study or findings. |

| I am glad you came by for a visit. I love reading your blog it always has a hot button waiting to be pushed. Being a Messianic Jew I would offer the following. First, God is Sovereign and being such we must acknowledge Him. His Word to Peter in Acts 10:14,15 says Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean." The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean. We live in a world where even spinach and peanut butter can be deadly. So sanitizing and praying are your best bets. And Mt.6:31,32 says So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' For the pagans run after all these things... It is important that we as believers do our best not to over burden others with rules and regulations. The Holy Spirit does a much better job at convicting and teaching than we can. After all, that is why some believers home school and others do not, because personal conviction has brought them to this end. The one thing I have noticed over the years, especially in Messianic circles is when a Jew gets saved he relishes his new found freedom and grace where when a gentile joins a Messianic congregation the first thing they do is strap on the laws. Well that is until you tell them their Catfish, lobster and shrimp are also catergorized as unclean. Respecting one anothers maturity level in Christ is paramount. Col 3:11 says Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. And Isaiah 61 says Jesus came to set the captives free. So the best thing I know to do is treat everything as clean (just ask a missionary) and pray over it,ask the Lord to make it acceptable and healthy for your body and trust Him. After all God is the Lord.

| You sure do post alot of controversial subjects! = ) Lucky for me, I don't like pork. I have always known that pork does harbor more parasites than other meats, and because of my irrational fear of parasites, I have never eaten much pork. I like bacon, but that's about it. I really don't know what I beleive about 'God's way of eating'. I think alot of the reason that God had guiedlines and set rules was because His people were to be set apart, to be different. That's kind of why my husband and I have certain dress standards, music standards, and lots of other standards- to set us apart, to have us be different then that world. Maybe God did have health reasons, I am sure He did- but I think the main reason was to set His people apart as being different from everyone else. |

| My mother has had cancer a total of 12 times now. She is still alive! She has been advised recently by her NEW oncologist NOT to eat pork products of any kind.
Why she asked? He just said that studies have shown that this animal can harm your insides. It's not good for you, I don't know if he's a Christian or not. But if the doc says it ain't good for you...and we are the sickest nation with all of our "technology" it kind of makes you wonder, now doesn't it? God said no, and that's good enough for me. By the way, Peter's vision of the sheet with the animals was a spiritual parable. That didn't mean it's okay to eat all animals. It meant it's okay to fellowship with the Gentiles. :) Keep sounding the horn sis... MamaLlama |
| I think it is great to question those studies that I sited above. Why don't you click on the link to the book I recommended and ask Dr. Tabb in an email for better documentation since he is the author?
It is a done deal in my mind. God said don't eat it and that is good enough for me. I haven't done the pork thing YET! I am sure we are going to do it. I am going to be careful what kind of pork I use though. I am not going to go to the grocery store and use meat that could have been irridated. That kind of meat may have already killed the worms. ((( of course after it is irridated it has worse issues that the worms that might of been in it! ))) I was researching more today and seemed to get conflicting issues about what pork is infected and how much and how to kill the worms. It just isn't worth eating is to me. Here are a few interesting sites I found- http://www.detailshere.com/cleanoruncleanfoods.htm http://www.cdc.gov/mmwR/preview/mmwrhtml/00001752.htm http://www.nfid.org/library/steele.html http://www.trichinella.org/ The last one was the most interesting because of all the videos/photos/history recorded. I feel like I "know the worm" now! All my husband has to say about this subject is "The worm dieth not" ROFL I also don't think that the vision Peter had was saying it was okay to eat anything unclean. That vision was interpreted not to much farther down in the Bible. In the interpretation God never said it meant to eat the unclean animal. He meant that it is okay to preach to us gentile peoples. Read that vision and then keep reading... the interpretation is there. I also don't think it is good to push the law on people *at least for salvation* It won't save you! |
| All I can say after the "interpretation" stuff is Romans 14..... Because of Jesus, Bobbie |
| This is on assumptions based on what I think you are trying to say about Romans....
I think you believe this is saying not to judge someone who eats pork, and not to judge someone who eats herbs because they think eating unclean things are wrong. I could see how that could be taken in that context...if that is what you are refering too. However, I don't think that is what is actually being convied here. In this passage we have Christians who are not eating meat because it was offered to idols before being sold at the market. To them it is wicked because of an idol sacrafice. Then there are other Christians who are buying the meat to eat, probably because it was cheaper. In the minds of the Christian who is eating meat it isn't a big deal because it was offered to a 'god' that isn't really anything anyhow. So, you have Paul (I think) saying that it is not sin but you can't judge one another's hearts because it might be sin to one and not the other. I don't think that applies to this subject because this eating issue doesn't have anything to do with eating something offered to an idol. I think this could apply more to a person that doesn't celebrate Easter, Valentines, Halloween or Christmas because of its Pagan orgins trying to decide if they should eat the holiday candy. After all it is a lot cheaper to get Halloween candy on clearance afterwards but it is still from an evil day...so do we eat or not????? Sure is cheaper to get eggs at Easter on sale....but if we don't celebrate that holiday should we buy and eat from that sale??? Should we just buy a salad instead??? I don't think that passage of scripture applies here. I don't personally believe that there was anybody buying unclean meats at the market... This is a different issue. So, did I get what was trying to be said right? |

| I really agree with what you are saying.. I have been studying nutrition and seeking God's wisdom for what I need to feed my family for about 13 years now. I am continually learning more, and sharing with people when I can. Some people appreciate the info and others are content in not knowing. Do you grind your own grains? Nancy's Cambell's daughter Serene has a great cookbook on raw foods.
(Above Rubies) I've seen George Malkamus several times locally here in Tn. His seminars have been very informative. Anyway, keep posting great posts like that. Really enjoyed it! In Christ Jesus, Geanine |
| I am going to copy this and add it to a nutrition class I am teaching! |
| I decided to blog on my site about diapers, hope the info is helpful. I have a whisper mill and have been grinding grains for about 12 years now. I am so hooked. Other bread just don't taste right. It's kinda like raw milk, store bought just tastes fake or something. Here is some info about super absorbency pads.
A study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology reported that the presence of superabsorbent fibers significantly increased the rate of growth of staphylococcus bacteria, and that the production of the bacteria dramatically decreased when it was grown on cotton fibers. I have also read that the chemical that is used in the super absorbency pads not only absorbs what is naturally flowing out, but that it pulls the moisture that your body needs to have to stay in natural balance. That really goes along with what you were saying. I hate to think people would actually manufacture something like that on purpose, but I believe they do. Is this progress, I don't think so. I think when we use the things that God has created, in a way that He intended for us to use them, we are much better off. What is your take on vaccines? Any thoughts? My ds age 5 stepped on a rusty nail last week, and we ended up getting the tetanus immune globbulin. I have to tell ya, I lamented over it, and finally turned it over to the Lord. Anyway, I hope your family is well and full of joy this day. In Christ Jesus, Geanine Edited by mom2fourtreasures on Mar. 15, 2007 at 7:41 PM |

| If that is the goal than you get to also cut out Tacos, Cheeseburgers, enchiladas, pot roast with gravy, because meat and milk must also not be at the same meal, actually icecream for dessert is even out within a time limit of the meal. All shellfish and all bottom dwellers as well can not be eaten. Should you go to Egypt most fried foods are off the menu as well since they are fried in camel fat.
All your meats need to be from a kosher butcher so that it is PROPERLY drained of blood and has been killed right... which raises the price of course. Luckily you can get some kosher meats at Trader Joe's now. But for alot of people the arabic grocery is the only choice. Which can be difficult for some torah observant and how their tsitsi and kippa are treated. Then there are your dishes. Seperate plates, bowls, silverware...etc.. for meat, another set for dairy and a third set just for Passover. The sinks for the dishes should also follow the same rules of kashrut. A sink for meat dishes, a sink for dairy... 2 dish washers- most wives are happy just to have one! Shalll we discuss the 2 beds for that time of the month? If you want to keep the whole law, you can't pick and choose which parts. You can not create your own version of orthodxy. So have fun and when you no longer have time to blog because you are keeping kosher, know that you will be missed :-) Because of Jesus and not the Law, Bobbie |
| I have not thoroughly studied out the meat and dairy thing enough to give you my opinion on that. Some say it is tradition and not really the law. I should study that out.
The bottom line is that nothing is to great to be asked of from God. I should be willing to give up anything if he wants me to. Even if it is inconvenient. We already don't eat shellfish or bottom dwelling fish. I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. I am always nursing or pregnant so the time of the month is RARELY an issue. It really isn't a big deal and it wouldn't take up that much of my time if we found that dairy and meat couldn't be eaten at the same time. Cheeseburgers can be veggie burgers, tacos meat can be made with lentils. Also, you don't need to go to a special person for meat if you know how to brine the meat. I already do that when we have meat. You just soak it in salt water and change the water until the blood isn't coming out. Ground meat can be rinsed under running water. This just means that you need to plan your meals ahead of time to make sure you have enough time to soak the meat. It doesn't affect the taste and it has to be better for you. God loves me and he loves his people. This really can't be that big of a deal because if it was then he wouldn't of given the law. Even if you don't think that the law applies to Gentiles than what about Jewish people? Does God hate them or want to waste thier time? Can Jews not blog because they are so busy being Kosher???? Heaven forbid. God loves them enough to give them these rules for thier (and I believe our) own benefit. At least if I run out of time to blog I will be missed. LOL |

| I was just reading through some of your posts. I don't think we are condemned by what we eat, meaning that our salvation is not merited by what we do or don't do. We could never be good enough to earn His favor. I do think that if we eat, we may have consequences from our choice in our flesh. I am quite sure we would. The percentage of people who are sick with food related illness is astronomical. If our bodies truly are the Temple of God, I think it is quite important to be knowledgable about what goes in or on our body. That woulld include but isn't limited to smoking, drugs, and even pork. My family has been studying this topic for a long time. The information that supports not eating it is far greater than that to eat it. I think alot of times people don't want to make any changes, so they argue their point why they believe it is o.k. I guess that is one of the blessings of living in the U.S. There are all kinds of issues that we could discuss, things that would require changes we need to make in our homes. I always ask the Lord to show me how to make changes, and also to show me any hidden dangers that are an issure for my family or others that I care about. I believe I am a Watchdog over my home. As far as the FDA and CDC and any other govermental organization that has our so called good in mind I seriously question that. Why? Well it would take all day just to skim the surface for why I think these multi billion dollar organizations are not what they seem to be on the surface. Just looking at the ingredients of the processed foods we buy let me know that the government isn't concerned about my family or their health. Just my thoughts. I also know the Lord wants us above all things to walk in love with one another, reguardless of our positions on health issues. I only discuss these things to somehow help someone that might need them. Anyway, hope you and your family are full of joy in the Lord. His mercies are new each day.

| Wow, I am really loving your blog. I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the book "What the Bible Says About Healthy Living" by Rex Russell, MD. It was from this book that I first heard about the "why" of not eating pork. He also went on to say that "if a pig is exposed to a human's DNA virus and then a bir's virus, the pig mixs the two viruses - developing a new DNA vius that is often extremely lethal for humans. These viruses have already caused worldwide epidemics and destruction?" referencing Chriastoph Scholtissek, MD, "Cultivating a Killer Virus" National History (January 1992).
As for the scripture in Acts refering to Peter's vision, I personally believe it was in reference to the mixing of Jews & Gentiles. 1Ti 4:4.5 does say "For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer." I personally try to stay away from pork when purchasing for my family, but if I were invited by another family and they are serving ham, I will receive it with thanksgiving, sanctifying it with prayer. Just my 2 cents! |
| 1Ti 4:4.5 does say "For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
I think the key to this verse are the words "sanctified by the word of God". How is food sanctified by the word of God? In my opinion that would mean eating what God allows. What does he allow? Fruit, veggies, grains, dairy and clean meat. Those foods are sanctified by the word of God. There is a verse that is in the Bible that makes it debatable if it is okay to eat something unclean at an unsaved persons home....but I can't remember where that verse is. If I come across it soon I should post it. |
