 Jun. 14, 2008 - Frustrated
The two year old has a rash... poisen ivy I suspect... maybe he got bit by a whole swarm of bugs... time will tell.
I haven't got comfrey leaf. I haven't got Myrrh essential oil - or Calendula. No supplies I need on hand!!!!
So, how do you treat a two year old that won't quit scratching?
Well, since you have no bathtub (only a shower) you empty a big plastic tote from the closet. This of course produces a huge pile of clothing on the bed. (More mess in my already messy house- which is going to drive me nuts) Then, you fill it up and place it on towels on the Pergo floor. And of course the toddler is going to splash water all over the floor for the next hour or two while you try to keep him soaking in epsom salts, baking soda and Bergomot essential oil. And you have to keep soaking it up cause all that water will ruin the floor... but at least he is not scratching!!!!
Then you send the kids outside to gather Plantain leaf from the yard (thank you Lord that it is Spring) and grind them up. But now what? How do you keep the green oozy leaf mess on the child and keep him from scratching? ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE! ALMOST! Well, here is how -
Under his socks and all his bandages there is green oozy herbs on top of the rash... he is not scratching though.
Did I mention the backlogged housework, the children that are doing chores lazily, the uncomfort of being in my last month of pregnancy, the fact that I HAVE NOTHING FOR FATHER'S DAY FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE FOREVER, the stupid stray beagle dog won't leave and on and on...
So, I text Rick, my husband, to find out his plans for tonight and tomorrow. After all, it would be nice to know if he is going to be here for supper (did I mention I NEED groceries?) So, he calls me in the middle of all this mess written above and is asking me questions and stuff. Kids are making noise and seem to cry every time the phone rings... he can't understand why I am cranky and snappy... he asks MY PLANS for tonight... and I don't know what he expects me to say... how about housework, cooking, trying to stay sane, getting to two year old fixed... He is not getting this... I am FRUSTRATED! I could cry or snap at any moment.
So now the question is how can I get him to understand that I don't need the third degree about my plans tonight? How do I get him to understand I don't want to go shopping after he gets home which will keep me up till the middle of the night? Well, this is how, I am writing this blog.
Now that I am done I can look at that photo and laugh. I can feel better. Relieved. I am going to get Rick to look at this from work and then he will understand and hopefully laugh. Then, next time he calls he will be patient and just be nice instead.
