We have had an exciting past week.
Yesterday at 8:02 in the morning I gave birth to a whopping 10 pound baby boy... soon to be named.
Knowing he was so big made me feel better because the last few weeks of my pregnancy were really hard. My hips hurt and I was out of breath a lot- no wonder!

It was a homebirth and our midwife was wonderful. Homebirths are nothing like hospital births. This baby took a few more minutes than usual to push out and Ellen was really encouraging. She encouraged different positions and tried to make me relaxed and comfortable. She was more like a friend or a mom than a doctor. She was also very educational and showed us things that doctors wouldn't- like everything about the placenta.
Rick was probably the best he has ever been during a birth. He was helpful, kind and more loving than ever before. I am so glad he was there with me to hold me hand, give me water, and let me squeeze my arms around his neck so hard while I was pushing the baby out that he will probably need a chiropractic adjustment.
And another neat thing was that I actually went into labor on my own this time. I usually induce myself with castor oil. I am glad I didn't go overdue like I normally do! He was early for me. We could tell from the amount of vernix all over him and a few other little things.
We just got back from our Canadian, 4th of July, Niagara Falls vacation on Friday. I am thankful I didn't go into labor while we were there! Here are some photos from that trip.
