OK, because my grades weren't A+ 100s a lot, we found this new thing online called PQ3R. It isn't very much fun, but it sort of gets me more interested in my school, especially history Ü. Here is what it stands for: P: Preview Q: Question R: Read R: Recite R: Review It is working pretty well, we just started yesterday and my grade already went up! Ü We also started doing the stuff that is in the front of teacher's manuel that you don't have to do, but can be fun! So I'm writing a little paper about Mestizos and watching Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men before reading To Kill A Mockingbird for language arts. OK, so about five weeks ago, me and my sister Elle started Imagine That! drama class. Our teacher is Ms. Rhonda. Our friends told us about that class so we decided to try it. We are doing a play called "This Ole Cabin" (obviously a twist from "This Old House" ) It's going to be a country variety show and it's going to be a whole lot of fun! The actual play is going to be on the news. (hopefully) I AM SOO EXCITED! Here's the casting (this is also the order they are coming out): Cotton Eyed Joe song: Ms. Rhonda's other class (instruments) Green Acres Theme Song: Maria and Tucker or Sullivan (i don't remember) Chicken Boy: Spencer (he talks about wanting a chicken) Minnie Pearl: Jackie (talks about having a chicken as a little girl) Chick-Dees: Elle *my sis* and other girl. *i don't remember who* (they dance and cluck and one lays giant egg) Chicken Boy: (Takes giant egg and HAS A CHICKEN!) Gossip Girls: Barngirl, Kayla, Lizzie, and i dont remember! :( (they gossip about Minnie Pearl, Chicken Boy, Robbery) Cowman: Samuel Two boys: Nick and Tucker *i think* (twist from Tom Sawyer tricking kids into whitewashing fence) Boy/Girl/ Missing Chicken Conclusion: (boy captures robbers, boy finds chicken, boy is hero, girl finally likes boy) Boy/Girl sing "Lookin' Back to See" together Whole Cast sings: "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" The End! |

Yesterday, my mom, my sister and I walked around my grandparents' neighborhood collecting canned and boxed goods for our church's (Seacost Church of Summerville) food pantry. WE called it the F.P.O.O.W. ... Feeding People out of Work. It was also for the needy people out there, but we thought that F.P.O.O.W. sounded cool and the name stuck. We were out for about an hour, and we were SO surprised how many boxed, bagged, and canned goods we got. Most people gave, and what they DID give was at least four cans! It felt SO good! We got at least 20 cans of food, 10 boxes of pasta and such, 3 containers of salmon, and 10 bags of chips. My sister and I decided that we'll have to do that more often. ~@LyS5a |

OKAY, my birthday is January 1st, and we had my birthday party on the 2nd. It was a sleepover, we went out to eat, and went roller skating. It was a lot of fun. Here are some pics: Sydney is the one with the dark brown hair, Hannah is the one with the brown hair, BeansGirl is the blonde on the far right, and I'm the blonde next to Sydney. Hey! A few days ago, I did my first science project. We had to get to stacks of books 30cm high, a foam cup, 30cm long piece of string, an uncooked fettuccine noodle, and a roll of pennies. We out the fettuccine under one book in each stack, tied the cup to the fettuccine noodle, and dropped one penny in at a time to see how many pennies it took to break the fettuccine noodle. It took 45 pennies! We had to write what we learned in the activity manual, and what I put was, "We buy the strongest fettuccine out there!!!" Haha |

Hey, everyone! Welcome to my new blog! I just started home schooling a week ago and it's a LOT cooler than public school. (In MY opinion) So far I've had a LOT of fun. In my new science curriculum, we do activities and projects ALL of the time. Tomorrow I'm building a volcano, the other day we made a building out of marshmallows and fettuccine that had to withstand an earthquake. First one didn't work very well... it was MY design... figures, huh? Second one was Mom's. You can hold it upside down and nothing will happen. Heh heh... In math I'm speeding right along. I'm in Pre-Algebra. Reading and History are going along normally. My sister is having a lot of fun too, the occasional temper tantrum, but that's all. I really hope that our home-schooling lives will be fun, and I'm REALLY excited about it too. |
