I found a great website. Really...I've been feeling like...I just love hymns. I love the richness of the words. I love the scriptural accuracy of hymns. I love the worship of hymns. So many praise and worship songs are really just popular Christian songs. They aren't bad or anything, and certainly I will continue to listen to popular Christian music, but the songs are more singing about someone's experience with Christianity, rather than worshipping the Living God or singing scripture.

Yet, I like modern beats and a modern format. Modern, yet understandable so that the hymn can really move my soul.

Anyhow, this website (as other websites do as well) tries to address this and provide traditional hymns which are updated just a little. Check it out:

October 8, 2008 - Untitled Comment Hi Cathy!
One reason we started family worship was to teach our children hymns. Our church ONLY sings contemporary Christian music, and like you, I like it too, but feel like.... well, it's just not the same as hymns.
I love the hymn books we have. There are SOOOO many songs in there! And there are also Christmas & patriotic songs too. Gracie usually requests we sing our national anthem during family worship (which we do). It's kind of cool that our children know their national anthem by heart. I got our hymn books on Amazon when they were 4 for the price of 3 plus free shipping (so I spent about $30 or so).
Anyway, I'll check out that website! Sounds cool! Thanks!
Love, Alyssa

October 9, 2008 - Untitled Comment My girls and I have been learning hymns this year, too. I am enjoying it. I'll have to look around the website some more, too. Thanks!

I homeschool my three sweet daughters on our little farm, plus live along side my sweet step-daughter, my husband, our cat, our dog, some cows, and some chickens... God has done a work in me bringing my heart closer and closer to my family. And I feel so blessed.
