Does it ever seem to you as if God has woken you up to do something in the middle of the night. Sometimes that thing is pray, but sometimes it might be something like put your school schedule together. It was all clear in my mind in the middle of the night. Here it is. This may change...as we see how it works, but I'm excited to have a working schedule.

Your Thoughts (8) :: Post A Thought! :: Permanent Link

August 21, 2009 - Untitled Comment Girlfriend.....that schedule! You're the woman. Not sure what ours will look like this year. CC is Classical Conversations. You can google it if you are interested. It's definitely the Classical model of schooling. I went to a 3 hour meeting last night and am really excited about it. It will be different than last year's "text book" style learning. We are in class all day on Tuesday and then I reinforce what was learned on Tuesday for the rest of the week.
It's going to be an interesting year!!!!

August 22, 2009 - Sorry... I just posted a comment on your post but I don't see it. Maybe they are set to be approved first? This is a test just to see if I messed up or not...

Well it must have disappeared!!! What a pain, it was long and I don't think I could rewrite it if I wanted too :O( Oh where Oh where did my comment go??? Geesh, just one of those things I guess.

August 22, 2009 - Untitled Comment I will sum up my "lost" comment... I am amazed at your schedule. It looks so great. I just don't see how a schedule like this could work for me :O( How do you fit it all in??? And, you have so many more activities than us! An example: you have 30 minutes for lunch. By the time lunch is prepared, served, eaten, then cleaned up after, it is an hour or more. That takes up a bunch of time in my day. You have 20 minutes for Science on your schedule. I can do 20 minutes for the main subjects like Math because my kids generally know what to do but usually Science and History are newer things. I have to actually teach that, and hope they retain it :O We spend a couple hours on those. And, where is supper? I generally have to start supper around 3pm to have it ready for 5pm. I'm not the fastest lady with a knife in the kitchen, LoL and also supper is our main family time so I always try to cook something really good and also get the kids to help which can sometimes slow it down too. I also have the typical phone calls and other detours. Even if I ignore the phone, there's usually something or somewhere I have to call, everyday life mess. Maybe I need to stay awake after hours to do laundry, organizing, and other cleaning and planning? Anyway, my point is this is where I'm at... I don't know where my time goes in day but I generally only get about 3 subjects complete in one day. Please don't take it the wrong way, as I said I love your schedule and only wish I could do similar. I'm really trying to figure out how to take smaller bites this year and get more accomplished. Thanks for posting this schedule. It makes me think :O) Maybe it's because I have so many kids at different grade levels :O I just feel so disorganized...

This time I am copying my comment in case it gets lost in cyber world :O)

August 23, 2009 - Untitled Comment You are so right! I have been reading your previous posts on CM. It's very interesting. I am going to read more on this.I've heard of CM in the past but always tossed it aside in my mind. For some reason, I thought it to be something else than what it is. Earlier this year, I became very interested in what unschooling was about. I just feel that unschooling wouldn't be for us. I think it is great for some, but I feel it's not enough schedule for my kids (they need schedule or our house would crumble, lol). We also don't leave the house very often and the door to learning would be closed there. CM's method of teaching seems really on target for us. And, we already do a lot of the things she teaches, just out of habit. Anyway, just wanted to say... very interesting... and thanks for the informative response :-)

August 23, 2009 - Untitled Comment Great looking schedule!! Have a great year.

August 24, 2009 - Schedules... Looks good. I spent yesterday, while I was riding in the car, working on my schedule. Oh, sigh. I wrote down everything that I need to be involved in or do and how much time and it came to around 17 hours a day, and that's where I stopped. I obviously am going to have to work on that a bit more. Maybe tonight in the middle of the night!!

Rhonda

August 24, 2009 - Looks Great...But... Cathy,
Don't you love the clarity that the "wee hours of the night/morning when all else is quiet and still" brings? I often get more accomplished between midnight and 2am than in 8 hours of daylight.

Anyway, WOW, you did great! But I saw one glaring omission, my dear...where is the 2 hour nap for Cathy??? ;-)

God Bless,
Lori @ Plans4You

August 24, 2009 - Untitled Comment whoa! that is some schedule!! I'm impressed that it's down to the minutes............do your kids really have it down?
