I am down about our home and our property and how we have been paused in our home building process (see the next couple of entries). I also read this article on facebook this morning:
Basically, in England they are talking about parents teaching their children about hell and about a Victorian perspective as being something the state needs to stop. They are proposing a yearly meeting with children to assess this and other issues, WITHOUT the parents present. They compare this to the American divorce court case that sent a homeschooling girl back to school because it was the father's wish that she be exposed to other viewpoints. We are in for a battle. This court case, now, is really just a biased judgment for the father in a divorce case, but there are those that will try to use this case as precedence for so much more, such as is happening in England.
I sat down to talk to my husband about all of this, this morning. He had turned on praise and worship. And he shared with me that he was impressed that the Israelites tooks God's praise into battle and when they praised Him they were victorious and when they didn't they weren't. We were further talking about how all the events happening in the world...and Jon said that any leader trying to address threats to our freedom, best understand that this battle is spiritual, because if they don't they will be devoured. If they do, well, God will go before them.
I love the leaders that God has made our men. Pray for your husbands and your sons and pray for our country and pray that God will go before us.
This is happening is Scotland, but it's an important thing to stay aware of. This family had gone to social services for help raising their kids, and is now having their children taken away from being overweight. Being overweight is being viewed as an abuse issue.
I'm sure all of you know about going-ons in Congress, and the Dems outright slandering of Republicans as you can see here in this Utube video Enough Of The Mob - particularly Republicans that have attended Healthcare Town Meetings and that have attended Tea Parties.
It has also been said that: (I did not attend one of these events, but I am a conservative) we are angry we lost the election and are sore losers, that we are Bible thumpers, that we have been sent to these events by Republican organizers and not because it was our own idea. Our local representative, Brian Baird, called us Brownshirts (referring to Nazi Brownshirts) as stated in our local paper, The Columbian. Most people know how quickly Congress rushed through the stimulus plan, without the possibility of reading the plan, before it could be seen and reviewed by ordinary Americans. They wish to pass the Healthcare "Reform" quickly as well. You know the polls are strongly against government run healthcare, yet they go ahead. I heard one media spokeswomen say, "they may not know what is good for them". I heard another media spokesperson (this one on supposedly far-right Fox News) say, losely paraphrased, "Medicaid and Medicare are great things. People love them."
Well, anyhow, it's crazy stuff. It really is... The money being spent and the control being grabbed for...I COULD go on and on. Many points are obvious. They should be obvious. But, beyond that which is obvious would even be WORSE than that. There are so many ramifications..Ramifications on free choice. Ramifications on small businesses. Ramifications on our economy. I know, regardless of the outcome, God is in control and has a plan to win as many people over to Him as possible. He will strengthen His children and provide for them no matter the outward going-ons. Yet, wouldn't it be better, if we as a people could honor Him with our hearts and our actions and if He would allow us to not "drink from that cup" just right now?
I clicked on this CitizensInCharge from this Mom's site, 4 Little Men And Girly Twins. Now, maybe something like this might be a good idea. Everyone gets a benefit...everyone gets absolute choice. But, even with that...GOSH let's take time. Laws need to be simplified, not made more complicated. I'm curious, if you all read through this, what are your thoughts? I'm not endorsing it, just curious as to your thoughts.
A disturbing trend my husband and I were reading about last night is that according to a recent Rasmussen poll - just 53% of Americans believed that capitalism was better than socialism. Among the young, the trend was even more striking. Google it if you are interested.
Along those line, my husband sent this one to me and I thought it was particularly good, so I'm sharing it with you.
Socialism Always Fails…
An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single
student, but had once failed an entire class.
The class (students) insisted that socialism worked since no one would
be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism."
"All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so
no one will fail and no one will receive an A."
After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The
students who had studied hard were upset while the students who had
studied very little were happy.
But, as the second test rolled around, the students who had studied
little studied even less and the ones who had studied hard decided that since they couldn't make an A, they also studied less. The second Test average was a D.
No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around the average grade was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling, all
resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for anyone else.
To their great surprise all failed.
The professor told them that socialism would ultimately fail.
The harder people try to succeed the greater their reward (capitalism)
but when a government takes all the reward away (socialism) no one will try or succeed.
This is my 200th entry! I forgot to tell everyone about my 100th entry. I'm coming up to a year of doing this blog too. It's been fun. You are all so encouraging and I get so many ideas visiting all your homes through your blogs.
President Bush
I know I may be a little late posting this, but I just found this UTube video on another blog. I've just really got to say, no matter how tired people get of politics, it's important not to disengage, nor to stop thinking critically and biblically about the issues. Yet, getting caught up in the day to day debating can be overwhelming and I certainly understand that.
For today let me just say that I, personally, appreciate President Bush. I think he did the best he could for our country and he held firm to his principles. I didn't agree with every decision - particularly some spending decisions, and at times I wished he was more articulate so that he could have better put the neigh-sayers in their place. But, overall, I think he was a great leader. I think God placed him as President to protect our country and to stand for what is right, even in a day when many look at standing for what is right as a negative. Thank you, George W. Bush.
Rush Limbaugh shared his opinion in the Wall Street Journal today. As a small business owner whose family's business is affected by the struggling economy, I agree heartily. My daughters were reading about George Washington the other day and how he opposed the formation of political parties to begin with, for fear for divisiveness. I hope reasonable Americans can see the logic in what Mr. Limbaugh says here.
"There's a serious debate in this country as to how best to end the recession. The average recession will last five to 11 months; the average recovery will last six years. Recessions will end on their own if they're left alone. What can make the recession worse is the wrong kind of government intervention.
I believe the wrong kind is precisely what President Barack Obama has proposed. I don't believe his is a "stimulus plan" at all -- I don't think it stimulates anything but the Democratic Party. This "porkulus" bill is designed to repair the Democratic Party's power losses from the 1990s forward, and to cement the party's majority power for decades.
Keynesian economists believe government spending on "shovel-ready" infrastructure projects -- schools, roads, bridges -- is the best way to stimulate our staggering economy. Supply-side economists make an equally persuasive case that tax cuts are the surest and quickest way to create permanent jobs and cause an economy to rebound. That happened under JFK, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. We know that when tax rates are cut in a recession, it brings an economy back.
Recent polling indicates that the American people are in favor of both approaches.
Notwithstanding the media blitz in support of the Obama stimulus plan, most Americans, according to a new Rasmussen poll, are skeptical. Rasmussen finds that 59% fear that Congress and the president will increase government spending too much. Only 17% worry they will cut taxes too much. Since the American people are not certain that the Obama stimulus plan is the way to go, it seems to me there's an opportunity for genuine compromise. At the same time, we can garner evidence on how to deal with future recessions, so every occurrence will no longer become a matter of partisan debate.
Congress is currently haggling over how to spend $900 billion generated by American taxpayers in the private sector. (It's important to remember that it's the people's money, not Washington's.) In a Jan. 23 meeting between President Obama and Republican leaders, Rep. Eric Cantor (R., Va.) proposed a moderate tax cut plan. President Obama responded, "I won. I'm going to trump you on that."
Yes, elections have consequences. But where's the bipartisanship, Mr. Obama? This does not have to be a divisive issue. My proposal is a genuine compromise.
Fifty-three percent of American voters voted for Barack Obama; 46% voted for John McCain, and 1% voted for wackos. Give that 1% to President Obama. Let's say the vote was 54% to 46%. As a way to bring the country together and at the same time determine the most effective way to deal with recessions, under the Obama-Limbaugh Stimulus Plan of 2009: 54% of the $900 billion -- $486 billion -- will be spent on infrastructure and pork as defined by Mr. Obama and the Democrats; 46% -- $414 billion -- will be directed toward tax cuts, as determined by me.
We see which stimulus actually works. This is bipartisanship! It would satisfy the American people's wishes, as polls currently note; and it would also serve as a measurable test as to which approach best stimulates job growth.
I say, cut the U.S. corporate tax rate -- at 35%, among the highest of all industrialized nations -- in half. Suspend the capital gains tax for a year to incentivize new investment, after which it would be reimposed at 10%. Then get out of the way! Once Wall Street starts ticking up 500 points a day, the rest of the private sector will follow. There's no reason to tell the American people their future is bleak. There's no reason, as the administration is doing, to depress their hopes. There's no reason to insist that recovery can't happen quickly, because it can.
In this new era of responsibility, let's use both Keynesians and supply-siders to responsibly determine which theory best stimulates our economy -- and if elements of both work, so much the better. The American people are made up of Republicans, Democrats, independents and moderates, but our economy doesn't know the difference. This is about jobs now.
The economic crisis is an opportunity to unify people, if we set aside the politics. The leader of the Democrats and the leader of the Republicans (me, according to Mr. Obama) can get it done. This will have the overwhelming support of the American people. Let's stop the acrimony. Let's start solving our problems, together. Why wait one more day?"
Here is an awesome interview with Huckabee on the View. The View is a show that regularly hammers anyone with conservative views and recently called our homeschooling children "demented". If you want to get upset, you can see that video here. However, here is the much more encouraging video with Huckabee:
I homeschool my three sweet daughters on our little farm, plus live along side my sweet step-daughter, my husband, our cat, our dog, some cows, and some chickens... God has done a work in me bringing my heart closer and closer to my family. And I feel so blessed.
