A Spring Play..
When I found out that one of our local Children's Theaters was putting on a spring pruduction of Alice in Wonderland, I decided to try out. Along with Natalie and her brother Louis. The preparations were simple- just prepare a one minute monologue of your choice, and the drectior may ask you to sing a simple song such as "Happy Birthday". I had chosen a monologue from the movie Princess Diaries 2, it was more like a speech really. I knew most of it, so memorizing was a breeze. With all that underway, we were off to auditions!

"It would be so nice if something made sense for a change."
The tryouts were held in an elementry school cafeteria. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The director sat at a table (along with an assistant) and he called you up by number; I was number five. After we completed the audition and had our picture taken, we left. The director told us we may get a callback........ And we did! So our Friday night was spent reading scripts for certain parts...and watching others do the same. After about three hours, we went home. The cast list was suppose to be posted on the website the following Tuesday. What a long wait! So on Tuesday morning I got up bright n early (This is NOT normal for me just to let you know) and logged on to the "Rose Children's Theater" website to see if I was cast. The list wasn't up yet, no information was. So the whole rest of the day was spent checking the website every half hour (really, I did!). The cast list was finally posted on Wednesday morning....
We all got parts! Louis is a banner carrier for the Red Queen's procession and part of the "card guard", a group of cards that march around. Natalie and I are also part of the "Card Gard" and are both gardener cards. If you haven't seen the movie or read the book we are cards (there are three of us) that accidently planted white roses, and to avoid having our heads chopped off, quickly paint the roses red.
I hope to get some pictures of our coustumes when we get them. (Which won't be for awhile because the play isn't until May!)

The play sounds fun! =D I really like to act too, though I haven't had to suffer the suspense of an audition. All of the plays I've done were with our church, homeschool and 4-H groups. So I've usually just been appointed to a part, though the last couple of plays I've done I got to pick. =)

Hi Jessica - we share the same name! I'm reading 'Alice in Wonderland' now - it's so funny with all of the funny use of words, isn't it? How is the cat being produced? Do you enjoy acting?
Want to be friends?
Love Jessica
