Not really feeling too good.  Nothing fatal.  Lost our cat.  Really pray he comes home.  Irratated at my brother who thinks he knows something he has no clue.  Husband tasted a little of our homeschool today.  Daughter at a friend's party.  Son and I at library on the web.  because of my attitude, I'm a bit grumppy.  Ever seen Sound of Music?  Really like that.  Tomorrow should be better.  Started a new Bible study on prayer.  Need to change my tude!

I know it has been such a long time since I have been here, and I have missed it greatly.  We don't have internet at home, so I must come to the library to be online.  Unfortunately, I only can go once, maybe twice a week because of the time and gas.  That means that my emails are bombarded, and I only get one hour to clear them up.

Let's update.  My husband is working two jobs right now to get rid of a credit card.  It stinks.  However, everyone has been very supprotive and helpful.  We plan to quit this insanity by the middle of June.  The thing that kills us, though, is the gas prices.  We use two of his parttime checks to pay for it.  What a waste.  He has applied at another job that pays very well, and he is well suited for.  He has passed everything he nedded to.  Now, he is just waiting for an opening and interview.  Please pray for him.

My son is doing very well in Spanish, and he picked up Latin pretty well, also.  He is typing a book to be published, we hope.  He has been very successful in Bible Quizzers, placing 33rd out of 106 children.  It is so fun and exciting to watch children memorize large portions of God's Word.  He has also started going to Youth Group.  I believe he likes it.  He loves Worship and sings to the Lord with all his might.  How I envy my children's childhood.  Except for the times Mom loses her patience.

My daughter is doing so well in all her subjects, espically Math.  I bought her a new Math book yesterday, and while we waited for my son, she started it right away.  She would love to be doing what her big bro is doing, but she is only 7.  She loves drawing and horses and, of course pretending.  She is starting to really understand Spanish and computer programs.  She doesn't get as upset when things don't work out.  She is the first in our family to assure us that God loves us.

I am doing well, except my weight bothers me.  Well, some other things bother me.  However, my gratitude to the Lord Jesus faithfulness is so big, that the worries semm trivial, at times.  I went through a Beth Moore Bible study called Daniel.  It was really cool.  I am teaching 5th and 6th graders at church, which I love.  Also, I am looking forward to joing our Homeschool Coop next year at church.

I pray everyone is doing well.  God bless you.  If you have a second, please drop by and say "Hello."

Today we spent time with Daddy and played a game, read comics, started a puzzle, and went to KFC?Taco Bell.  We also bought a new computer program that I am really hoping works out.

Daughter was schooled first this morning:  Read Bible passage to me, reviewed Poem and wrote a line from it.  Worked on Saxon math, Phonics and did a spelling test.

Son:  Saxon math, read Bible, review poem and wrote a line from it, did practice on capitlization, put new Cd into computer.

Both:  Did Ice Cream unit study and looked at new Spanish Cd.  Have decided to do Spanish seperate so both can do it at their level.

Have a great day, everyone.

What a wonderful year

Okay, so we have only schooled for five days.  We take Sundays and my husband's daysoff.  But it has been going great.  We have dropped two subjects already- sign so we can concentrate more on Spanish and Shakespeare because my daughter wasn't getting it, and I wasn't sure I wanted to explain such adult subjects right now.  I talked to my sister- in- law earlier today.  First time jitters, but i know they are going to do just great.  We got rid of our cable.  It was too expensive.  Unfortunately, that rid us of our Internet hookup.  So, until we get a new Internet, I am going to have a limit as to when i can blog, becuase I am doing it at the library.

Today:  My son read from the Bible, practiced plural verbs, learned about vertices, practiced cursive,  read about History of the World, tried to make a volcano, watched Jonah in Spanish, worked on computer, read about Delaware, and George Washington., made tuna helper for lunch, recited memorized poem.

My daughter reviewed verbs and alphabetizing, practiced simple addition, practiced W's, read Bible and Prayer of Jabez, Did volcano and Spanish with brother, read about Delaware and French Canada, played with colonial paper dolls, practiced poem, looked for spelling words, edited sentences, read a book on George Washington.

Have a great day everyone.

My husband went with my son to a men's ministry thing and won a game he has never played.  I am so proud, even if I can't remember the game.   My daughter and I played, did laundry, and watched Princess Diaries 2.  Then we went to church as a family.  We signed up for some Bible studies starting in September, and I volunteered to teach in my son's age group.  My husband will be going to work early tomorrow and then to a men's fantasy football thing.  Our friends will be over with us for some fun because her husband is in the same league.  Everyone have a great Sunday.

At 9:41 p.m., my son will be twelve years old!!  He is having a slumber party with 9 boys and my husband.  I, uh, took him to donuts and we walked around the mall.  Is there ever going to be a point as a mom that I can look back and say- hey, I did a pretty good job.  MY SON IS TWELVE!!!!!!  He was just born yesterday.

New Day

My kids are just so funny.  They really want my husband to work at MCDonalds so he can get free food.  When I reminded them that he did not like MCDonald's food, they agreed that he should work for Jack in the Box.  I love these guys.  Have a great day.

What a Good Day

My husband had a full day off.  He mowed the lawn, made breakfast, BBQ dinner, took kids to VBS, handled a situation at work, spent private time with me, read kids a book, took family bike riding, mowed neighbors yard, played with cats, spent time with God, did fantasy football thingy, lead family devotions, helped neighborhood kids to get along, and gave me ice cream!  My husband basically ROCKS!!!!!!!

July 26

Went for a nice long walk today.  The kids really worked hard today on the kitchen.  I can't believe my son will be twelve soon.  We will, again, have a sleepover party for him.  Talked to my sister in law today.  Yuck!  She wants to keep her son back a year because he went through three different teachers, and she is afraid he didn't learn anything.  He is in elementary.  But the school district told her she doesn't have that right!!  Why she just doesn't homeschool, I don't know.  So, her family is fighting the school district.  I'm sorry, but public schools stink!!

A Hard night

I had a hard night tonight.  It is hard to look at yourself and realize you may not be anywhere near who you want to be.  I want to be a woman of courage and compassion, joy and wisdom, peace and perserverance.  I just want to be like Jesus.  Does it ever amaze anyone how little God thinks of our opinion?  I need to be there.  What others think, or worse yet, what I think others think, just kills me.  I want to keep my big mouth shut.  Teach me that skill, Father.  Help me to just be quiet.  God, help me.  In Jesus name.

Started a diet.  1200 Calories a day.  Doctor wants me to weigh 150.  I want to weigh 120.  See how that will work out.  Kids have a brand new routine planted on the backs of their doors.  That way there is less frustarting talk and folks around here can have the opportunity to take responsibility for themselves.  Love that Fly Lady website.   www.flylady.net

Two Church services

Today we went to two church services at two diffenet churches.  The kids had attended VBS last week and took part in singing at that church.  They were so funny.  Then we went to our own church.  And now my husband is at work, my kids are watching a movie, and I am blogging.  Quiet day.

What do you think?

I just read an article about sharing with others why you homeschool.  Her husband and her have written a book on the subject.  My usual answer, though true, may be a bit wimpy.  I usually tell others that I enjoy teaching children and did not like what the school system did to my very bright husband, dad, and brother, who all think they are substandard in education.  I never get into how school and government is an interfering, horrible, destroying monster set on consuming our children and ruining our families and the Christian faith.   I never tell people that.  Should I, or should I just stick to my other reason?  What do you think?

VBS this week

Yep, we are attending two- one in the morning and one at night.  They each have different themes.  So that is nice.  My son is going also.  It is sometimes hard to explain the grade thing to non- homeschoolers.  We went to a large park I have been wanting to go to.  The kids played.  My son chased a dragon fly that seemed to enjoy being chase because just about the time my son gave up, it came around him again.  My daughter helped some girls with earthworm care.  They were going to drown them, but my little girl wouldn't let them.  Did I ever say that she wants to be a veternarian?  They got to spend a little time with 2 12 week old Golden Retriever puppies.  We went to the library.  I had to change in my spare change for gas.  Living paycheck to paycheck is a bit hard, sometimes.  But I sure like being with my kids 24/7.  Thank you, Jesus.  My daughter got a guide to all the interesting (and not so interesting) pieces of art hanging around the town we were in.  We want to go back and try to find all of them with the guide map that was provided.  It was a great day.  Hope your days of summer are great also.  God bless you.

Things that I am blessed By

1.  My very talkitive and seriously energetic family.
2.  My children still like playing with me.
3.  My husband's job.
4.  My country that I live in.
5.  My past.
Sometimes I struggle with gratitude in these areas.  I get tired sometimes with the constant noise and energy.  I feel guilty when I can't always drop everything to play with my kids, and frankly, there are some things I don't like playing.  My husband works alot of hours for no benefits and low pay.  My country has so many un-Godly problems.  My past is less than perfect.  BUT--  I love that my family enjoys hanging out with each other alot, my husband is good at his job and all our needs get met with it, my country is beautiful and a lot of terrific people live here, my past has been used alot to help others out.  Thank You, God for all things.
