Clay and the Robot

Just make me that way, okay? Please just make me more patient, kind, Christ like, Father. Just make me that way. I seriously want God to just make me the person He wants me to be. But to be very honest, I don't want to do the work myself. I would rather it be a "poof", you are "there." Holy, kind, like Jesus. However, God doesn't do things that way. My prayers are surrounded with "Father, make them or me...." The Maker of all things doesn't seem to work that way. He just doesn't seem to "make" anyone. He leads, He encourages, He disciplines. But forcing His will doesn't seem to happen. God is a Gentleman. The Lord isn't interested in robots whose keys are in the back of their head, and you just turn the key and they do what you want. No, God seems to be interested in giving us the gift of free will, no matter how hard that is. Why? I mean, we are clay in the Father's hands. We can make our plans, but God directs our way. And still, He isn't interested in us being robots. It is better that we, the vessel, a cup for example, would act like a cup. That we would ask God what He says about our many plans, goals, lists. Truthfully, wouldn't we like to be the robot? I mean. some of the things we do, think, and say are just heartbreaking. Wouldn't it be easier if God just pulled all the strings for us? However, God didn't choose to do that for us. Why? Because God, Who has made man in His image, believes in us. He believes we got what it takes to live for Him. He is on our side, inside of us, all around us, and, yes, even lifting us up, so we can live for Him. What a Christian has is His Holy Spirit, His Son's blood, and His Word. Those are what it takes to live for Him. Like Jesus said, without Jesus, we can't do anything. You can't hear "Well done, good and faithful servant" if you're a robot. There is no reward in that. But, wow, think of the rewards we are given when we choose His will. When we obey Him. Then, the cups and plates or whatever vessel you are glorifiy and please the Potter Who has put you on His path. Never leaving or forsaking us, Our God IS an awesome God!! Have a great day. |
