My first entry in our blog! I am excited because I believe this will be a great way to keep in touch with our dear-to-our-hearts-out-of-town relatives. We miss Gramma Bailey so very much and the kids pine for their cousins. I of course miss my sister-in-law Amy, and who wouldn't miss arguing with my generally good natured brother-in-law? Since today is still in its infancy, I don't have a lot to report. I do however have great hope for the day ahead. The house is in serious need of a good cleaning, I need to spend a few hours organizing some lesson plans and Chad wants us all to work in the garden together. We may take the day off from school. We began a lap book on Anarctica this week. Kaity is so intruiged by it that I decided to turn it into a unit study. CJ is making one too. We also began a lapbook about the book of Genesis. It's been a lot of fun because both the kids are really into what we've read so far. Kaity had to draw a comic strip about 'How Not to Deal With Anger' and one about 'How to Deal With Anger' (this is after reading the story of Cain and Able). She did an excellent job. However, the pictures she drew for 'How Not to Deal With Anger' were surprisingly graphic! She drew pictures of killing people and one of the pictures shows her holding the heart of someone she murdered! Ahhh! This from my cheerful, compassionate, helpful, obedient sweety! She took the assignment very seriously and in her mind the worst way you can deal with anger is murder, by golly, and lots of it! On the flip side, her 'How to Deal With Anger' comic was very sweet. It depicted a friend breaking her angel figurine and instead of getting angry with her friend she chose to read her Bible. Yesterday Kaity stepped on a push pin and it went all the way into her foot. She stood there crying and I had to pull it out. She bled all over the kitchen. Poor baby. I gave her some Motrin because I am sure it was aching! CJ is currently fascinated by numbers. He can't get over the fact that numbers never end. He frequently writes down something like 49827278072363526199765878364031 and says "How many is that mom?" Our verse of the week is Hebrews 11:2 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Hugs ~ Jenn |
