Homeschooling Nine Kids

Living life at a relaxed pace

Too often we run here and there, to and fro and all it accomplishes is vexation and stress."Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife." Proverbs 17:1

In other words, it is better to have less of everything and be relaxed and at peace, than to have lots of everything and be stressed.

It seems as homeschooling mums we seem to be even more under pressure to do more than is actually necessary and then become stressed. Whether it is in academics, or clubs, or church, or whatever it may be. We need to slow down the pace and drink in God's word....slowly!  "Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." Luke 12:27

If we are trying to 'do school' on the move constantly, then we are probably doing too much. I have seen 'burnout' in home educators and the same theme seems to re occur, they were trying to do too much. We will never get it all done, so we need to quit trying and cast all our cares on God. We can do it in His strength.

Great Post Jenny, and too true! I sometimes suffer from this, and God convicts me every time.

Hello, I just stumbled onto your blog...what a blessing it has been reading through it! I'm a mother of 4 and hope one day to be a mother of 9+ too! Thank you for the info on the cloth diapers. My next go round I'm really going to give those a try. And yes, in ref to this post, moms do need to slooooow down and enjoy life with their babies! I use to be a mom that ran from place to place, and worked 20-40 hours a week AND homeschooled. WOW, has God done a work in me. I make it a point to only "go out" once a week if we must. It is SUCH a blessing to just be home and not run from thing to thing. The kids enjoy it too. They love riding their bikes and playing on their tire swing...who cares about running! Also I was wondering if your family has felt any homeschooling persitcution in Europe? We've heard in the US it's increasing over there. I was just wondering how it's going for your family. I KNOW God has called all our families to do this and HE will make a way and provide. God Bless you Sister!
