BURYING THE CHICKEN!

REMEMBER ME BLOGGING ABOUT OUR EGYPT UNIT AND MUMMIFYING A CHICKEN?  WELL, YESTERDAY, WAS THE OFFICIAL BURIAL DAY...  WE HAD TO LET IT SOAK IN SALT FOR SIX WEEKS...  CHANGING THE SALT EVERY TWO WEEKS....WHAT WE DID WAS, SMOTHERED THE CHICKEN WITH BABY OIL AND HERBS, TO PREVENT IT FROM SMELLING SO HORRIBLE...IT WORKED...THE DEAD CHICKEN SMELLED LIKE A COMBINATION OF A BABY AND ROSEMARY!  WE THEN PUT IT IN A SEALABLE ZIPLOCK BAGGY AND THEN INSIDE ANOTHER SEALABLE BAGGY...YOU CAN'T IMAGINE THE WATER THAT WAS PULLED FROM THE CHICKEN...OR MAYBE YOU DON'T WANT TO IMAGINE...HA-HA!

WE ENJOYED WRAPPING THE CHICKEN IN GUAZE AFTER THE SIX WEEK PROCESS AND ADDING GEMS AND OTHER WORLDLY POSESSIONS THE CHICKEN  A MUMMY WOULD BE BURIED WITH....HERE'S A PICTURE AND THE PICTURES THAT FOLLOW ARE OF THE HOMEMADE TOMB....

NOW, IN ONE YEAR, WE'LL DIG THIS UP AND SEE HOW WELL OUR MUMMIFYING PROCESS WORKED!  IN THE MEANTIME, WE GET TO HAVE A LOVELY PYRIMID LAWN ORNAMNET AT THE BACK OF THE PROPERTY.

Can't believe all you do for home schooling. The only thing I can say is Tommy will know more things about everyday life, Then all the history books he could read in school

cool post about mummification, but then I saw that bowl of soup in your border, and the chicken in the box across the page, too close for me! :) Ha! Great job on the pyramid, by the way.
