Jan. 8, 2008 - "Life" update from Heather Idoni of HomeschoolingBOYS.com

I tried to make a New Year's resolution to actually blog regularly -- so it's about time I started again!  :-)

The big news from the Idoni home is that we are expecting a baby girl around Valentine's Day.  Woohoo!  Our 5 boys are now ages 7 to 17.5 -- this will be a BIG change in our home.

We have a name picked out -- it means "praise" in Hebrew and is the beginning of the word 'hallelujah'.  Her middle name is from the psalms and only God truly knows what it means. :-)

Hallel Selah

This is actually our first child to have a middle name.  Jim thinks middle names are frivolous.  HAHA.

More news:  We are planning to have our very first HOME BIRTH!!  :-)

I'm pretty excited, but the time is passing so quickly.  This has been the fastest pregnancy I've ever had since I didn't find out I was pregnant till I was almost 3 months along.  Time just goes faster when you are older and busy, too!

I'd love to hear from others who've had home births... and had a girl after many boys.  Please post your comments!

I have had one cesarean (I was manipulated into it) and then stayed away from hospitals for the next two births- homebirths. My husband was right by my side everywhere I went while laboring. He was great! I also had a midwife, which I recommend. My last preegnancy I was considered "high risk" because I was borderline gestational diabetic and 36 years old. Whatever.

You can do this. You will wish you'd had all of them at home.

A good book is "Labor Pain". Really practical.

Oh, cool!!

Good for you! Yes, I do have a great midwife -- she's over an hour away, but her assistant, a close friend, is only 15 minutes away. :-)

I am 43 years old... and we had a 7 year break so this is a huge wonderful surprise!

Thanks for your comment.

I found your blog using the random blogger button. :-) We have 5 boys too! But was not blessed with a little girl. We are content though. We had 3 of our 5 boys at home and actually #5 was suppose to be born at home but it didn't happen. :-( It was a great experience for us! I also delivered my sister's baby at home. No, I'm not a midwife but that is a long story. Let me know if you want more details about homebirth.

Blessings,
Tammy

I had two traditional hospital births (yuck), one at a birth center with a midwife (great experience), and the last - thanks to God's leading - was a home birth with a midwife (AWESOME!). I wish I had done them all that way! So much more relaxing and peaceful. Best wishes to you!!

Congratulations on the upcoming event...Hallel Selah. My last one of three (Sam 10, Issy 7, Cash 14months) was a planned homebirth. As the event started to unfold we realized heading to the hospital would be best for us. As always God had his hand in the mix. My doctor picked the best "natural" nurse on duty, my husband defended our birth plan, and Cash arrived naturally. All three of my births were different but natural. Our bodies can do this...remember you CAN DO this in the midst of the pain. Best wishes to yours in 2009...it will be a life changing year.
