• Monday, January 28, 2008 - The Problem with Foccacia

it is divine when eaten fresh with bit of butter

it is divine when eaten slightly toasted with butter

it is divine when ripped off and dipped in vinagrette

it is divine when made in to a panini sandwich.....

so what to do?  I just feel paralyzed by enormity of this decision....

maybe I'll just have to do all 4 over the course of the day (can you say "carb-a-holic"?)

really what it is exactly. Is it something green and leafy? My healthy food vocab. isn't as diverse as yours. I've never had a panni sandwich either (if that's what you called it. Oh well. Maybe I'll expand sometime..............

I love how you think the best of me. No foccacia wouldn't classify as 'health food' by anyone's standards (except for maybe the olive oil it is doused in). It is a most delectable bread that is rectangular in shape, white and chewy on the inside, and drizzled with olive oil and, in this case, oregano on top....yum. Just think BIG BREAD. I'll buy some next time you come over....it will be worth the drive I promise!

I will become a culinary marvel of intelligence. I will continue to grow my belly and legs which are increasing at an alarming rate...... I will sit and eat with my friend. Two of my most favourite things combined together.....

I go to Yolanda's church-we're the two university-trained pianists :-). She mentioned your blog to me (and we may have met once at High Day's special French Revolution Music History era presentation...) as you and I are both expecting within a month. I'm due with my 6th around end of Feb. I've enjoyed and laughing through a few of your entries-you are very funny; and, of course, I can totally relate (kiddos aged 11,9,almost 7, almost 5, 2, and 8 mos. pg). I also have that controlled-schedule craving and frequently revise my way of directing things. Well, the last schedule I actually got a litttle smarter in where to put things, except for that little wild card factor called real life and indolent 2nd oldests, etc. :-). Now you can see why I relate ;-).

When people tell me that my hands are full when I'm out with our small passel, I respond, "Joyfully so", because I am. I also want my children to hear that we are glad to have all of them, which we are. I'm trying to concoct a pithy response to any "Don't you know where they come from?" (maybe, "Could you please tell me?-We'd love to have more!"...). or "Good luck!" (Usually I explain to the marveller-of-the-moment that I was stressed with 2 or 3, but not with 5 or 6 as there finally is help built in, which is true.)

Anyway, too bad you don't live in Detroit area, or I'd have you and all your under-10-ers over for a 4-hour tea-and-talk time. Now that's something for the schedule :-)! (p.s. I'm drinking the pleasantest pregnancy tea each day now by Traditional Medicinals brand...)
