every now and then i would put one time use batteries in for the occasional event and what not, but for the most part, once the batteries died and just kind of quit taking pics.
well, i finally got new rechargeable ones for xmas. with a new charger to boot! they worked great for about 2-3 weeks. then the kids..... well, you know, one of them borrows 2 of mine to operate one of their devices here and another one grabs one or 2 for their devices there, and the next thing you know, the no longer worked! im guessing its cuz being used at different times for different devices they no longer were charged to the same strength???
but whatever, that was january and again this year ive been back to using one timers here and there but for the most part, not really taking pics.
THEN! i got a cheapo 4 pack rechargeable battery set that included a new charger and that little bugger has been amazing! i got the batteries about the time i started adding pics to this blog. its been fun getting back into photography. mandy and joe have been getting into it as well. joeys been learning the basics ie: how to hold the camera properly to not cut the subjects head off in the shot (framing the shot) and which side to tilt the camera to if you wanna switch to portrait mode so as not to diffuse the flash. (always keep the bulb on top) hes also been learning about the macro feature (the flower, as we call it) and when you use it and when you dont. simple stuff but he thinks its big time and when youre discovering something new and youre awed by what you see and learn, then it IS big time.

mandy has the basics down but has also been getting really into the artistic side of photography. she wants to create art and not just 'take pictures'. she's cool! i love her!!!

well, just as we are getting into it and posting pics and mandy creating movies and stuff, the camera gets dropped! surprisingly, the camera didnt break. well, thats to say the functionality of the camera didnt break. HOWEVER... the ittty bitty teency weency catch thingie that keep the bagttery, which is on spring action release. i know that term isnt right but i cant explain it any better than that. anyway, the little catch thingie clips onto whatever to keep the door from springing open. in other words, its the little clip thing that keep the battery compartment closed and the batteries IN the camera. the battery compartment is on the bottom of the camera so they have to be locked into that compartment to
a) work
b) not fall to the ground as gravity takes hold.
ive used the camera very few times since the drop by taping muti layers of electrical taped to hold the compartment door closed. it works but only for a little bit. the battery compartment is on the bottom. they are on a spring release. the tape is holding them in, but the tape will only hold so long before gravity and the weight of the batteries push through 100 layers of tape meant to hold them in. phew! this paragraph has worn me out.
anyway, ive got a HUGE list of things to blog about that weve done in the last few days. sadly, not many pics to show our work, but i still wanna blog about it for memories sake! :o) until later...... ttfn!
