Two-Thirds

Time it was and what a time it was...
Nov. 6, 2007
lately (but not very descriptive)...
we went to the frontier culture museum in staunton, va we saw an english farm & house, as well as germany & ireland.  very fun. very informative. each farm and house had people there in period costume to point things out to us or to answer any questions, end to show us how some of the old stuff worked.  there was also a working blacksmith whatever you call it. we got to see him make 1/2 of a fork. into the ashes, then remove and POUND-POUND. back into the fire. repeat till pounded and shaped into what youre making. fun stuff.

the kids and i watched 'the end of spear' movie about the missionaries in south america who were killed in the 50s or 60s. it was rated pg-13 and i was worried if itd be too violent for my 6 & 9 year olds. but the director did a great job showing the violence without showing you the gore. it was sub-titled but mandy and me read the sub-titles out loud and it didnt seem to bother either kids that it was partly in a digfferent language. AND they asked to watch it again the very next day. they really like the movie! they like a lot of movies that are about real people. that intrigues them.

our temps have finally dropped to what is average for fall in our area. we discussed how fall was here and winter was coming, joey says, "I can't wait for the beaver. you know that beaver mom? the one that comes out so we can see if its gonna be winter."   this led into a discussion of groundhog day and that its in february, etc. that was fun.

i caught daddy hanging out with the kids calling out math problems to the kids. speed drills. the kids were LOVING it and wanted to do more and more. they also had fiun seeing who called out the correct answer first, mandy or joey. i think they were about even in score. but they sure had fun.

we talked about and drew diferent shapes (octagons, etc) more fun!

we went trick or treating . mandy dressed up like a little girl in her jammies, with her blankie and teddy. joey dressed up like a ninja. lots of candy was had by all!

mandy, all by herself, went onto the internet and googled how to make home made play doh. she found directions and printed them out. she then proceeded to make a huge batch of red play doh which is still being played with today. she let me help he make it but she did most of it herself. go girl!

the kids have pulled out our variety of musical instruments several times in the last couple of weeks. we have bells, a triangle, moraccas, a little indian drum, the wooden stick you rub together, etc. that was really fun!

and thats it for this entry......

This is my world. It's always about two-thirds complete. I guess that means I am a work in progress! :o)
