Sep. 29, 2007 - The Crazy Cat Lady!

So we have all heard of a crazy cat lady, you know the one with 30 cats and a big floppy hat! Well, if I had a big floppy hat, it would be me!

We have had our share of cats and cat drama, here is a brief history of how it all happened.

1. It all started with Socks and Peaches, we got them from some friends.

2. Socks left.

3. Peaches had kittens, 3 to be exact so we were up to 4 cats.

4. A  stray showed up and ate but was later kicked out of the neighborhood! (He was mean!)

5. Then we gave away one of the kittens and had 3 cats left!

6. One day we came home and all of the kittens were gone, so we were back to just having Peaches!

7. SO then we had a stray and her baby show up, they eat tons of food, but are wild so they can't really be pets! We have tried to catch them no luck yet!

8. Angelica got the kitten that we gave away and has since returned it.

Up until today we had 2 cats, Peaches and her kitten Chocolate, and the 2 strays that drive me crazy. Well last week I noticed that Peaches was somewhat like me, growing wider in middle and sort of grouchy. In the last week she had doubled in size and seemed to be again like me, hot and miserable!

Last night I noticed she was missing and when I called tonight she came running. She had her babies, and proceeded to eat like horse. So she returned to underneath the storage building where I can assume that our cat population has probably at least doubled!

It will probably be a couple of weeks until Miss Peaches shows off her babies and we can tell just many cats we have. I do not intend to continue "blessing" the neighborhood with cats. As soon as the kittens are big enough and we can catch the strays, hopefully we will find some good homes!

Sep. 26, 2007 - The girly bathroom!

We finished painting the bathroom last night! I love the way the color and the "look" came out! I still need to get a rug to match, maybe a couple of towels and something to hang on the wall! But you can get the idea! My camera was acting up the day I was going to take the before pictures. But I did get one of the wallpaper and the old shower curtain!

 The old wallpaper

Old shower curtain

The new shower curtain

The green walls and the soap dispenser

Thanks for looking!

Sep. 24, 2007 - The Big Sister!

Tonight we went to the Big Kid Class at the hospital. Lillie was the youngest but she behaved better than some of the bigger ones! It was a cute class. They took a picture to put in the baby's bassinet at the hospital, gave them a bookbag with all kinds of loot, watched a video and did a tour. Lillie did great and declared she liked the hospital. She has been very anti-Dr and nurse. I was so proud of her.

It brought it home how much she has grown up. She is potty trained and has such a cute personality! I think she really is beginning to understand about having a baby sister. On the tour tonight we went passed the room where she was born and it made me feel so strange. In some ways it seems like yesterday and in another way it seems like forever.

When did she get to be almost 3? We waited so long for her and she is such a miracle and now God has seen fit to bless us with another. My heart is full when I think about it. Sometimes it is easy to get discouraged. When I think about all He has given me, it makes me ashamed of myself. He has not ever left me or forsaken me. And because of that, I can face tomorrow and the next day!

Thank you for all of your kind comments and prayers regarding my last post. I appreciate them so much!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Sep. 20, 2007 - Thursday Thoughts!

Ahh, I am tired tonight! But it is that good tired! I got the bathroom all primed this morning then we had Homeschool playgroup this afternoon and my wonderful husband helped me paint this evening.

If you want to know how far a quart of paint will go you should our guest bathroom. We got every wall surface painted, but we are going to need a 2nd coat. We were gifted one quart from Jay's Mama, long story if you really want to know, ask Grandma. The moral of that story is that we are going to have to get more paint. But that will wait till next week, I am tired and need to do some more pressing chores. You know like washing clothes, because I am such a big fan of clean ones!

I was talking to Nana tonight and telling her about working on the bathroom. She declared it sounded like I was nesting and I plead guilty. All of of a sudden I have all of this stuff I want to get done. I gotta pace myself and my poor husband, he does not mind helping but he would probably faint if he knew just how much I want to get done! You could have eaten off our floors and every thing was in place when Lillie was born. It is really funny, because I am not usually neat freak at all.

I saw the cutest little baby girl today and told my friend A, We were going to get one of those. She proceeded to tell me that she was excited and sometimes she thought she was more excited than me. I was kind of taken aback but then I realized that I may sound like like I am not very excited. See I am nervous about the whole labor and delivery thing. I told her last time I did not know I was supposed to be afraid. She said she thinks I am wired wrong and that the mommy amnesia part of me is messed up. I said all of that to say this, Please pray for me. I try not to worry and think about it all the time but I am truly nervous. I don't think I could be anymore excited about this baby, it is the getting her here part that I worry about!

Bless your heart if you read all the way through that, you should win an award! I am headed to bed, hope you all rest well and have a wonderful Friday!

Sep. 19, 2007 - Wednesday Ramble!

We had a whirlwind of a weekend! With Papa John's Birthday, Rachel's Pinning ceremony and a new puppy, there was lots of excitement. It was a good weekend but I was very glad to get home yesterday! 4 nights away from home is plenty! Lillie and I had a god time with Beau the puppy, he is just adorable and has the sweetest personality. Almost makes me want one, notice I said, almost!

A few weeks ago I found a shower curtain that I just loved, they have it at Wal-mart.  It is a cute pattern with stripes and flowers and lots of colors! Anyway, I have been saying for while that I wanted to paint and "makeover" our guest bathroom. It will be Lillie and Becca's as well so I want it to be bright and cheerful. So tomorrow I am going to start painting! It is going to be a fun shade of green. I will be sure to take before and after pictures. I love the challenge of a project!

So we are now down to 10 weeks till Becca's arrival! Time is flying by and we are so excited! Her crib is getting filled with lots of pretty girly things! Lillie is signed up to take a big sister class next Monday night. It is free and is offered at the hospital where Becca will be born. They give them a tour and do some fun things with the children! We are going to make it a fun night and go to the park too!

I am so enjoying this cooler weather! It has truly been one of the hottest summers of my life and I am so glad for the cool breeze! It makes me think of pumpkins and all of the wonderful sights and smells of Fall!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Sep. 14, 2007 - Friday Show and Tell!

Well it's Friday and time for Show and Tell over at Kelli's! Today I want to share my latest sewing project. A couple of weeks ago I went to a cute little store in our downtown area. They had these adorable burp clothes. They were simple white cloth diapers that they had sewn ribbon and various trim on. I thought they were precious, when I looked a the prices they were selling from 5-8 dollars a piece. I immediately thought I can make some of those and for a good bit cheaper!

So I bought a dozen cloth diapers and washed them several times. This makes them softer and more absorbent. Then I bought some ribbon and was given some pretty white trim. I ended up having enough to finish all 12 diapers. Now baby Becca has 12 beautiful burp clothes waiting on her! I love the way they turned out. Taking something so practical and dressing it up! I think they would make great baby shower gifts!

Edited to add: I ended up with about $16.00 in the whole dozen, quite a bit of savings!

Thanks so much for letting me share!

Be sure and stop by Kelli's for more show and tell Items!

Sep. 14, 2007 - Happy Birthday, Congratulations and Goodbye!

First off I want to wish my daddy, better known now as Papa John, a very Happy Birthday! He is turning 47 years old today. 47 used to sound old, but now it seems pretty young to me! I love you Daddy, and thank you for being such a wonderful father and Papa!

Secondly, I want to congratulate my sister on finishing up nursing school. She is now an LPN! Monday night she will have her pinning ceremony. I am so very proud of her and her accomplishments! Also, she was presented with a puppy last night as a graduation gift. I now have a furry new nephew! Looking forward to meeting him!

With Papa John's Birthday and Rachel's Pinning ceremony we are headed to see them this weekend! We will be leaving this afternoon, Jay is coming home Sunday morning and then Lillie and I will be coming home on Tuesday!

We are looking forward to a wonderful weekend with family! Hope you have a wonderful one as well!

Sep. 9, 2007 - Sunday afternoon nap!

Jay and I have both been sleepy this afternoon, I told Jay to go ahead and take a nap and I would keep Lillie quiet. Then when he gets up I will get my turn.

So while he was napping, I  got on the computer. Lillie was making noise so I told her to be quiet, well in a few minutes I realized it was too quiet. I looked towards the living room and saw this!

Yes, her shirt is inside out, but she was very proud she got it on!

I guess she needed a nap too. I am headed to bed for my turn now! I just love a good Sunday afternoon nap!

Have a great week!

Aug. 31, 2007 - Friday Show and Tell!

It has been a while since I participated in Kelli's Friday Show and Tell but I would like to get back in the groove!

When I was expecting our first child Lillie, my Mama bought a beautiful moses basket. I fell in love with it instantly. We never got around to getting a liner for it when Lillie was a baby. We put fleece in the bottom and a soft blanket. We used the basket a lot with Lillie, it was always a nice cozy spot for her to nap. We took it to church and she could sleep in it and I would change her diaper in it.

When I found out we had another baby on the way, I starting thinking about the moses basket again. I talked to Jay's Mama about making a liner for it. Very soon after we found out that this baby was a girl as well, we made a trip to the fabric store. Grandma, did a beautiful job of making the liner and soft mattress for the bottom. She also bought coordinating cream fleece and crocheted a beautiful pink shell border on it. She made the liner without even a pattern to go by. It is so pretty and I can't wait  to see baby Becca laying in her beautiful basket. I hope it can be used for years to come!

The whole basket with the fleece blanket inside.

A close up of the fabric detail!

Close up of the basket, bows and blanket!

Thanks so much for letting me share!

Aug. 30, 2007 - Potty Training!

Thought I would give a Potty Training update for anyone who cares. After 2 and 1/2 days of Lillie wearing panties, we have had 1 1/2 accidents! I could give you details of the 1/2 accident but you don't really want to know.

We had been home for a couple of days and finally ventured out to town with panties on and things went great. 2 trips to town and she stayed dry, we went to every bathroom at every stop. Lillie now has learned that it is fun to check them out and comment on every aspect of the visit.

Tonight at the grocery store she announced she had to go and off we went. A lady came in while Lille was getting situated, the lady proceeded to do her thing. Lillie's eyes got big and she said "That lady had to go pee pee BAD!"  The lady thought it was very funny and had a good laugh about it. One can only hope that we will continue to have kind souls in the stall next to us!

I am so thrilled with her progress, we are still a ways from having dry nights. But I will take what progress we have made. The thoughts of not buying diapers for 2 is very exciting!

Aug. 28, 2007 - Tuesday Ramblings

SO I have not been blogging much. Some of the reason is writers block and being busy!

Here is a nice boring update on us!

I went to the Dr. yesterday and got a good report. My BP is good and everything is great! I got a quick peek at Becca while they checked on her, she is growing and active. She was moving all over the place. I am now seeing a Nurse Practitioner that comes to a town closer to us. I really like her and will still get to see my Dr. every now and then.

We have Baby Beccas crib put up and it is beginning to fill up with things for her. Angelica has hit several clearance racks and has found some cute things! We are using the same bedding we had with Lillie and it looks so cute. Her crib is in our room and we have her a little corner set up. We are so excited, things seem to be going faster this time then they did with Lillie and I am thankful! We have about 13 weeks to go! Yeah!

Lillie has a little bug, she had a high fever earlier but seems to feel some better. It sounds like we gave Nana some germs this past weekend! Sorry Nana, hope you feel much better soon! We love you!

We are working on Potty training this week, we had a good day today! Lillie wants some Little Mermaid panties really bad and it working hard to get them. We are staying home for a few days and hope to make some progress!

Jay is doing good, he was working overtime some but it is slowing down now. We have lots of grass to cut, I don't think he will mind when it slows down growing some. It has been such a hot August!

As I said earlier, I am doing good. I am sleeping better and don't feel so tired all the time. I am trying to do better of staying ahead of housecleaning and washing clothes. I am trying a new "schedule" and it seems to be working better!

Well I need to run, it is nearly bedtime!

Hope you have a great week!

Aug. 22, 2007 - Happy Birthday!

My very good friend Amy over at Picket Fence Cottage is celebrating her 40th birthday today! I could not ask for a better friend or pastors wife than she is. She is a very sweet and talented woman. She has 6 precious children and is doing a wonderful job homeschooling them. She is such an encouragement, I never leave a conversation with her that I don't feel better about things!

Happy Birthday to my kindred spirit! May you have a wonderful day surrounded by those you love!

Please go by and see all of her pictures and wish her a very special day!

Aug. 20, 2007 - Things heard around here lately!

You can never tell what you will hear  coming from our little princess, here are a few of the things we have heard lately!

1. "OH NO, My leg is Broke-ed!!!!!!!!!!" With the mention of seeking medical attention, she was instantly better. However she has had some flare ups with it, whenever she needs some attention.

2. "You need to get another Lillie, you need a peet* Lillie!" Peet = sweet

3. " I really need a pink popsicle, it will make me feel better." Said in a very dramatic tone and she always said that it helped. Not sure what it helps!

4. "Baby Becca __________!" She constantly talks about her baby sister, she daily gives her hugs and kisses. It is very cute!

5." Hi, Dad! Hi, Mom!" From the beginning we have been Mommy and Daddy, lately we are Mom and Dad. She says it in a sarcastic tone that drives us crazy!

6. When asked to do something she replies, " I already did, earlier!"

7. "Can we watch a mooney on the piter????"  Translation- Movie on the computer!

8. "Cut my cheese sandwich in triangles please?!?!?" She surprised me by saying triangle, we did not know she had learned that one!

9.  Asked about a million times a day "What is your favorite color?" then she wants you to ask and she always replies " PINK"!

10. "That mooney is scared!" said while shivering!

Thought you might enjoy these!

Aug. 9, 2007 - Bathub, Pool or Fishing Hole?

Is it wrong that my child thinks of our bathtub as a pool? Just days ago I posted the pool float pictures!

Yesterday we went swimming at a pool and had a great time again. Some of the kids at the pool had these fish that look real and look like they swim. Well Lillie had a fit over them and declared she "needed" some fish for her pool/bathtub!

Last night we had to go shopping and I thought we might try to find some sort of fish to liven up our bathtub/pool. The first store we went in had just what we needed, a magnetic fishing game and for the very reasonable price of $1.99! Lillie was so excited, she could not wait to get home and get a bath!

She had a nice long bath in the fishing hole last night, and this morning she declared that she was very dirty and "needed" a bath! And yes since I have a headache and can't seem to wake up this morning, she had another long fishing expedition this morning!

Catching Nemo!

All of her fish and a couple of ponies, hey if fish can be in bathtubs, why can't ponies!

Aug. 3, 2007 - My little painter!

For those of you that know Lillie, you will find this funny! As you know Lillie is a very busy, and active almost 3 year old. Sometimes we have a hard time channeling that energy in the direction we would like to. I have discovered that sometimes the child is just bored! So I have been trying to get creative with some things to keep her busy. She has been helping around the house, picking up things and cleaning a little.
Tonight after supper, we watched a short movie while our supper settled. Then I asked Jay if he wanted to tackle the dishes together. He said he did, but Lillie overheard and wanted to help too. When Lillie washes dishes the kitchen and whoever is helping her gets washed too! So I got creative and told her I needed her to paint for me. I got a cup of water and a old pastry brush from the kitchen, I took her on the porch and showed her how to "paint". Well let me tell you the child has found a new passion. She has been out there working and having a good time! I know it may not last but tonight it was a victory for Mommy!

Aug. 2, 2007 - Baby Becca Update!

I had a check up this morning and everything is going well with Baby Becca and me. She is growing and developing as she should be. They did an ultrasound and she is still a girl. Here are 2 pictures, the first one shows her profile and you can see her little nose. The second one is of her head tilted and you can see her ear!

The most exciting news to me is that since Lillie was so big (9lbs 13ozs), he wants to induce around 2 weeks early! So we should have a baby the week after Thanksgiving. It looks like we won't be having a  December baby after all!

Anyway, I just thought I would update and share some pictures!

Aug. 1, 2007 - What a fun day!

Lillie and I had a fun day today! A group of stay at home moms that my friend Angelica knows have a get together every Wednesday. They meet at one of the lady's moms house with an in ground pool! Everyone brings something to go with lunch and make a day of it. We stayed from about 10am till 2pm.

It was so much fun! It was nice to meet some new people. We talked, got to know each other, and laughed.  There were around 10 kids there, including four other 2 year olds, so Lillie had a really good time!

Lillie and I love to swim and so it was a nice break from all of the heat! They plan to continue meeting as long as it is warm enough to swim. So I guess we have a new weekly play day! Lillie already informed me she wants to go back tomorrow!

Anyway, just thought I would share what we did today!

Jul. 29, 2007 - Sunday Night Ramble!

Yes, I am still around and as one of my Brother in laws would say "Getting rounder all the time!"

We are all doing well. We were out of town over the weekend for a church meeting. We enjoyed it and getting to stay with Papa and Nana. My baby sister turned 20 on Saturday and we enjoyed spending time with her.  She and I decided that we are getting old seeing as how she is 20 and I will be 25 in January. Somehow I think  20 years from now we have that conversation again!

When I got up at Mama and Daddy's house this morning  I got the sad new that our big 12 year old cat, had died. He was one of the few cats that I ever knew of ,that was an answer to prayer.  When my  sister Rachel and I were little we used to pray every night for a baby brother or sister. So after a good while of doing this one night Rachel was praying and pouring her little heart out and said, "Lord, if we can't have a brother or sister could we please have a puppy or kitten?" So the next day Mama took us to the pound and we got the cutest orange kitten. Tom brought us lots of happiness and we will all miss him!

Thing are going good with Baby Becca. She is active and I enjoy feeling her squirm all over. I reached the halfway point last week, so time is marching on.  I have had awful heartburn the last few days and hope to find something that will help. Yes, I know this means that Becca will have lots of hair, I suppose that is some comfort!  My only other complaint is that I am not sleeping very good at all, which is why I am blogging at almost 12 am!

Well, I am off to bed and hopefully sleep as well! Hope you all have a wonderful week!

We grew this watermelon in our garden, and it was enormous. I took it to a family birthday party on Friday Night! It was so cute to hear my nephews talking about how Aunt Beth grew that huge thing in her garden!

Jul. 19, 2007 - Whole Wheat French Bread

Whole Wheat  French Bread

1 1/4 cup of Hot Water
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp. oil
1 tbsp. honey
2 tsp. instant yeast
4-5 cups Hard White Whole Wheat Flour
2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. lecithin

Combine water, milk, yeast, oil, honey. Add flour and salt. Stir until well mixed. Knead just slightly (about 5 minutes) to make smooth ball. Let rise until double. Turn dough onto a generously floured working with just enough to make dough workable. Divide in half. Roll into rectangle and then roll each side tightly, tucking under the ends. Place on a greased baking sheet or french bread pan. (I used a nonstick, pizza pan with holes in it.) Let rise until double. Bake at 400 (375 if using dark pan) for 25-30mins. May glaze with with slightly beaten egg and sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds the last 5 minutes of baking.

My notes- Right before I slid the bread in the oven I took a large steak knife and cut 3 slashes across the bread. When I glazed with the egg, I sprinkled the loaves with Italian herb seasoning.

I have not tasted it  yet but it is beautiful bread! We are having some of our very special friends over for supper tonight and I think it will go well with the rest of our meal. Think Italian!

Jul. 12, 2007 - Thursday Thoughts!

Sorry I have not been blogging very often, things have been busy and I have not gotten around to it. I will try to do better!

The baby girl now has a name, Rebecca Elizabeth. We plan on calling her Becca!

This morning I was in the kitchen washing dishes and Lillie was playing in her room. She came out with a grocery cart that had two bears in it. She looked at me and said "See my girls", and I told her that I did. I said 'What are there names?, she looked down and looked back at me "Lillie and Baby Becca" with a big grin on her face. It was so sweet. I have talked to her a lot about Becca and how she will go places with us and be part of our family. I think she is beginning to get the idea. Later on she had one on each side of her in a chair, she sat there and read them a book. Sometimes I get discouraged and wonder if she is learning enough and listening to me, then something like this happens and it just makes me so happy. I feel so blessed!

I have been cleaning house and Jay has been working in the yards we are gearing up for a big party! My friend Angelica's daughter turned 6 this week and her birthday party is going to be here Saturday! Lots of cake, icecream and lots of water fun, what could be better!

Also, I have a prayer request. I had some blood work done a couple of weeks ago and one of the tests concerned them. Jay had blood work drawn today and we should hear back in about 2 weeks. I really think that everything will turn out fine, but until we hear more it kind of makes us nervous! Please continue to pray for us and Baby Becca!

Hope you all have a wonderful week and weekend! I will be sure and post some party pictures early next week!

Jul. 6, 2007 - A Baby Girl!

We were excited today to find out that we have another baby girl on the way! She looks healthy and was modest to start with, but the nurse was determined to find out today. Lillie has been saying that she wanted a sister and we are all thrilled!

Jul. 5, 2007 - Friday is the BIG day!

So tomorrow is the big day when we find out what this baby is! We are very excited! My sister Rachel is here and is going with us. My parents really wanted to come but they had conflicts. Lillie is staying with Grandma because doctors freak her out.

My appointment is at 2pm, we will call family and close friends, pick up Lillie and head to see Papa and Nana. We have not been nor has Papa John has not seen Lillie for 5 weeks, he is having major withdrawal issues. I am sure by the time we head home Sunday he will have his "fix".

I will post the big news when get to Papa and Nana's house tomorrow night!

Jul. 4, 2007 - Happy 4th of July!

The Star-Spangled Banner

—Francis Scott Key, 1814

O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever when free-men shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust!”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Jul. 2, 2007 - Tomato Pie

We had some family over for supper tonight. This afternoon I was looking through my Paula Deen Cookbook and found this recipe. I made tonight and we all really enjoyed it! Jay really liked it and he is not a big tomato fan!

Tomato Pie

Serves 6

4 tomatoes, peeled and sliced

8-10 fresh basil leaves, chopped

1/3 cup of chopped green onion (I used vidalia onion slced really thin)

One 9 inch deep dish pie shell

Salt and Pepper to taste

2 cups grated mozzerella and cheddar cheese (combined)

1 cup of mayonaise

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Layer tomatoes slices, onion, and basil in pie shell. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix together cheese and mayo. Spread on top of tomatoes. Bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Let sit about 10 minutes before serving.

Enjoy!

Jun. 28, 2007 - Oh Precious Sleep, where art thou?

A little over 3 years ago when we found out that our first child was on the way, we were so excited. We started praying right away for a healthy child and a safe arrival. The one thing we did not think about praying for was a good sleeper, looking back that could not have hurt!

I hear stories of babies who sleep so good, just hours on end and wake refreshed and happy. And I should mention now that I adore my Lillie and would not trade her for all of the good sleepers in the world. But the child does like to sleep nor realize the value of being fully rested.

We have had sleep issues with Lillie since that inital honeymoon where they sleep like all the time and you try to wake them up because they sleep so much. We then she turned like 6 weeks old and it was all over. She ended up in the bed with us, which I said would never happen. So finally a couple of months ago she began sleeping in her bed, not always through the night but I could go check on her and pat her back and she would go back to dreamland. She was sleeping like 11 hours in her bed and let me tell you I was like 2 and 1/2 hours behind on sleep and it was heaven!

Well, this past week the darling girl has declared, Sleep who needs sleep! She prefers to sleep a couple of hours and then cry, beg to rock and then go back to sleep and repeat in a couple of hours! Last night we did this twice and I got her back to sleep, laid her in her bed and she woke up. So I laid down and she finally dozed off and so did I, seems okay right? Not really,a few minutes later  I was jolted out of a dead sleep to a huge THUMP, you moms out there have heard that thump. Yep, she fell right off the bed, thankfully no major damage except we had to rock again! Needless to say this morning we are both a little weary. She had a couple of naps the last couple of days so I am planning no nap today and hoping that breaks this lovely cycle we are in!

Oh and by the way, we are praying for this baby to be healthy, have a safe arrival and we would not complain one little bit if the child likes to sleep!

Jun. 21, 2007 - Thursday Thirteen

So I have been having a serious case of writer's block and I thought I would share some of my latest random thoughts! I am sure you will enjoy this.

1.The kittens are still gone and it bothers me! Lillie asks about them every morning.

2. Morning sickness seems to be gone, I still have aversions to some foods. Such as meatloaf, long story, but I will just say I may never eat the stuff again.

3. I am getting really good at washing and drying clothes but not getting around to folding them.  I plan to tackle this tomorrow!

4.The most common phrase we hear lately from Lillie is "What you Doonin?" We hear it all the time!.

5. When her Daddy is trying to find her an outfit she almost always replies "That Not Matches!!!!!!!!!!!!"

6. We will be home this weekend and plan on having some fun family time.

7. We had a good time with Nana and Rachel while there here Sunday night and Monday! It is always fun to have some girl time!

8. The first of our corn was ready today and it was really good!!!

9. Two weeks from tomorrow we will find out what the baby is! We are so excited, I can't wait!

10. She play with her Daddy and every now and then she comes and tellls me that I need to "Bust Daddy's Chops!" What a little princess

11.I have enjoyed the last few days being cooler. I love summertime but  the heat is even hotter when you have a baby on the way!

12. When Lillie gets bored she says "I want to see anybody" then when you ask her were anybody is, she replies "They at they houses!"

13. Coming up with Thirteen facts is harder than it seems!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I willl be back sometime soon. Maybe Lillie will let me do a photo shoot this weekend!

Jun. 19, 2007 - Sometimes Mama can't make it better!

Sometimes Mama can't make it better and that is a hard lesson. Last week we gave my friend Angelica one of Lillie's kittens. SO that left us with 2.

Well, yesterday morning the kittens were on the carport when we left to go shopping with my mama and sister and that was the last time we saw them. We have searched everywhere and can't find them. Lillie is upset and I am upset. I just wish we knew what happened to them. I keep hoping they will show back up but they have never gone off like this.

Anyway, It is kind of a sad day around here. Lillie keeps coming up to me and saying "Mama, please find my babies." It is just pitiful. She thinks Mama can fix anything!

Jun. 17, 2007 - Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

I have been thinking this morning how blessed I am! For a little over 24 years I have had a wonderful father. He raised me right and always set a wonderful example for me. He is such a good Papa John and Lillie lights up when she sees him ! I can't begin to say how much he means to me!

My Papa has also been such a blessing in my life. We have had some wonderful times together and I love him so much. When I see Lillie playing with him it makes my heart so happy!

Then I married a wonderful man who has been a great father to our little girl. There little games and time together are so much fun to watch. Jay is a great amount of help to me. I can't wait to see Jay with both of our children!

I am also blessed with a good Father in Law. He is a good Godly man whom I have much respect for. He loves his family and it shows!

I wish each of you a very Happy Father's Day!  I thank God For each of you and  love you all!

Jun. 12, 2007 - Baby Update!

I had my 14 week checkup this morning and everything is going good. I had been keeping a log of my blood pressure at home and they had done some blood work and determined that all is well for now. They still want me to keep a eye on it and  stay relaxed.

They used a doppler and I got to hear  the baby's  heartbeat. That is always a sweet sound! My next appointment is July 6th, at 2 p.m. and we should be able to find out what the baby is!  Part of me would like to wait and be surprised but I just don't think I could stand it! Most of our friends and family think that the baby is a boy but, I am not sure! We have a little over 3 weeks to wait. When it gets closer I will post and you can all give you guesses!

Have a great evening!

*Edited to add, I have had several people ask me about names. Before we found out this baby was on the way we had a girl name and a boy picked out. We have since changed our minds a few times. We now think we have 2 locked in but we will not be sharing them till we find out for sure what the baby is. We just want to be sure before we let everyone know!

Jun. 11, 2007 - Tagged!

My friend, Amy, tagged me with this meme. "The rules are real easy, all you have to do is write 7 random facts or habits about yourself in your blog. Then choose and list 7 people and leave them a 'Tag' letting them know to come by, and read your blog and see why."  So here goes...7 things you probably don't know about me:

1. I am a obsessive hand washer! There is no telling how much soap and paper towels I go through everyday. I don't mind getting dirty but I can't stand staying that way!

 2. Even though I have always loved to read, the last few months it has been almost impossible to get into a book! It is weird!

3. When I was in kindergarten my teacher sent me to get her a Coke from the teachers lounge and I got locked in there. For a long time after that I would not lock the stall in the bathroom!

4. I have a scar on my knee from where I tried to shave my legs when I was 4!

 5. I can't stand repetitive noises, like tapping fingers on a desk or excessive humming!

6. When I was 8, I  had crush on the boy next door and my little sister kissed him and it made me so mad!

7. I have to sleep on the right side of the bed! When we spend the night somewhere off, I still have to sleep on that side!

Now,  I don't have 7 people I can tag but I will tag, Jennifer and Lesa! Anyone else who wants to participate, just leave a comment with a link!

Jun. 9, 2007 - Contentment

Today was out first Saturday home in a long time! Jay ended up working and I had planned on resting and relaxing. But when I woke up this morning I got to thinking how much really needed doing! I had sorted 8 loads of laundry yesterday and I had been so busy I had let things go this week!

So I got busy and got things done around here. Jay helped when he got  home at lunchtime  and helped get the laundry finished! I need to finish a few things up on Monday but overall things are so much better!

Then after lunch I got Lillie down for a nap, she has been so fussy the last couple of days! Then Jay and I took a nap too! I slept about an hour and half, Jay slept 2 hours and Lillie slept 3 and 1/2 hours! It was wonderful. I was glad to get so much done and still got to nap!

I got to thinking about contentment  this morning. Used to it would have bothered me that Jay had to work and I spent all morning cleaning and washing clothes. But I was so content to do those things today. So many times it is hard to be content when things don't go exactly as planned. Today I got a ton of stuff done, we got to rest and we had some family time. It is nice to feel content with the way things are. I hope I can continue to strive to be content!

Jun. 7, 2007 - A Day At The Zoo!

Yesterday morning we got up really early and my friend Angelica and her daughter Gracie picked us up and we headed off to the Zoo. We stopped and had breakfast on the way and got to the Zoo shortly after they opened. We met my sister in law Laura and her 3 children there. It was so good to her her, my 2 nephews and my adorable little niece. We had a great day! It was so much fun. Lillie had never been anywhere to see animals up close and personal! She loved it! I have a several pictures to share!

Here is Miss Hannah, she was so sweet all day long! She just looked
around and smiled. She is such a cutie pie! Laura had her dressed so cute, her outfit had zoo animals on it!

This is Ethan, Gracie, Daniel and Lillie. I know it is not the greatest picture but you try to get the attention of 4 kids under 5 and under. It was the best I could do!

Lillie was very impressed with the elephants!

They had what they call a splash ground. It had all kinds of sprinklers and animals to climb up on. The kids had a blast here. Water even sprayed up from the ground. Lillie was sitting there waiting for it!

Lillie says she wants to go back to the Zoo today! She loved seeing all of the monkeys and birds!

I have a few more pictures to share but I think I will save them for later!

Have a great day!

Jun. 4, 2007 - Chicken Stroganoff

Chicken Stroganoff

1 large onion chopped
8ozs of mushrooms
2 tbsp of butter
4 cups of chicken broth*
2 -3 cups of cooked chicken*
1 can of reduced fat cream of mushroom soup
1/2 tsp of dried thyme
8 ozs of  wide egg noodles
1 tbsp of cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsps of water
1 cup of sour cream

In a good size pot saute onion and mushrooms in butter until almost done. Add chicken broth, cream of mushroom, chicken and thyme. Bring to a boil and add egg noodles. Cook over medium heat until noodles are done. Add cornstarch and water mixture to thicken. Add sour cream and remove from heat. Serves 4-6

* I lightly salted and peppered a whole chicken and boiled it with onion. Then de-boned it and skimmed the fat off the broth.

I wanted something with chicken and noodles for supper tonight and after looking at some recipes, I kind of made up this one. I did not have mushrooms so I skipped them but I think they would be great. Also, you would not have to add the thyme but it was really good. It kind of perked it up.

Jay and Lillie were very impressed so this will probably make another appearance soon!

Jun. 1, 2007 - Dreaming!

I saw this on another blog and thought is looked fun! It is a Dreamsicle MeMe!

What are your dreams? Not things that God has promised you, but things you dream about or things that you whisper in His ear. What are you believing God for? Be bold, Be Honest, Be courageous!

Some answers are serious ... some not so much :)

1.I dream that my child will soon learn that throwing kittens like they are softballs is not worth the spanking she receives.

2. I dream everyday I will be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend than I was the day before.

3. I dream that wrinkle free shirts will come out of the dryer with no wrinkles in them.

4. I dream about whether this baby I am carrying is a boy or a girl.

5. I dream about rain, It has been so long since we had any. I dream about how it will smell!

6. I dream  about suitcases that pack themselves.

7. I dream that our children will walk with God everyday.

8. I dream about seeing some of my friends and family that live so far away!

9. I dream about milk and gas going back down to 1.99 a gallon.

10. I dream about growing old with my wonderful husband.

11. I dream about America turning back to God.

12. I dream about the softness of a baby skin and that sweet baby lotion smell.

13. I dream that chocolate will somehow be added to the food pyramid!

14. I dream that the war will end and all of our brave men and women will be able to come home to their families.

15. I dream that I will never waste any of the gifts or talents that God has given me.

I tag Amy , Laura and Angelica to do this MeMe and anyone else who would like too!

May. 30, 2007 - Wednesday Roundup!

So we had a great time over the weekend at Papa and Nana's house! We went swimming, got to spend time with family and ate lots of yummy food. Lillie was the star of the show and kept everyone entertained, sometimes to well I think. We got home Monday night!

Yesterday, we went on a picnic with a Angelica and Dona and their kids. It was fun and the kids had a great time. It was fun watching them swing and slide and all of that!

Yesterday afternoon I had my 12 week checkup at the Dr's office. They did a ultrasound and Little Bit is still growing bigger. He/she was swimming around and wiggling all over. At one point the baby stretched out its legs and feet. The nurse said it looked like the baby was laying on a pool float just chilling out. It was very cute!  My blood pressure is running a little high but  I am going to keep an eye on it and I go back in 2 weeks.

I was going to write more but Lillie is up and I need to get busy!

Have a great week!

May. 25, 2007 - Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

We had planned on going to Jay's cousin's high school graduation tonight, but I have been having a good bit of trouble with Morning All Day Sickness and I really did not want to be in those bleachers when I felt the yucks hit! (Can you say run on sentence?)

We are leaving in the morning to go see Papa and Nana. We plan to be there around lunch time tomorrow and come home Monday! We look forward to the visit and the swimming pool!

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Let us always be thankful for the freedom we
enjoy and those who have fought for it and paid with their lives!
