Have you watched The Little Zoo That Could on Animal Planet?  I thought the shows were great.  Did you know they have a zoo cam on their website?  Check it out here.  I love to watch Salt and Pepper, the Siberian tigers. 

I wrote the zoo an email and they answered me back.  Very cool!  They told me to watch for a new hour long special about the zoo coming up in February on Animal Planet.

Growing Up Cheetah

I watched Growing Up Cheetah on Animal Planet yesterday.  Did you know that cheetah cubs and adults make a sound like a bird when they are scared?  You can hear it here.

Awesome Pawsome

I watched Awesome Pawsome on Animal Planet the other night.  It's about four tiger cubs growing up at Tiger Island in Australia.  They walk the tigers around in the park and people get to touch them.  I wish I could go there, but it's too far away.  The tigers were beautiful.  They were bengal tigers.

Russian snow leopard stamp

I got a new stamp for my collection yesterday at our homeschool stamp club meeting.  It's a Russian snow leopard stamp.  It's a little scary looking, but I think it's cool.  I actually got two of them because they are attached to each other.

Growing Up Black Leopard

I watched Growing Up Black Leopard on Animal Planet yesterday.  The leopard's name is Eddy.  I've seen the show a couple of times before, but I liked watching it again.  Eddy lives at the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Center.

I watched Growing Up Siberian Lynx a few days ago and it was great too.

I got a set of big cat figures.  It has a tiger, leopard, snow leopard, clouded leopard, lynx, ocelot, lion, lioness, jaguar, and puma.

Yesterday I did a short report on black leopards.

Animal Name: Black leopard

Scientific Name: Panthera pardus

Natural Protection: Climbing into trees

Natural Enemies: Lions, tigers, crocodiles, bears, and more

Description: It is also called a black panther.  They have more black pigment than other leopards.  They are graceful and also good stalkers.  They are good climbers and swimmers.  They are mostly nocturnal.

Food Preference: Monkeys, rodents, reptiles, birds, wild pigs, fish, reedbucks, and more.

Habitat: Most of Africa, parts of Asia Minor, the Middle East, India, China, Pakistan, Siberia, Java, Sri Lanka

Big Cats

I love all big cats.  Tigers are my favorite.  I went all the way to South Carolina just to see the Siberian tigers at the zoo.  My most favorite tiger of all is the Siberian.  I have two stuffed tigers that I sleep with every night and a lion and a little snow leopard that can go around my neck.  At the South Carolina zoo I saw lions too.  With my disposable camera, I took lots of pictures of both the tigers and lions.  I want to have a big cat sanctuary when I grow up to help save big cats and keep them safe.
