Big fat Daddy

Mar. 20, 2006

Call it what ever you like.

Recently I was accosted by yet another well meaning, yet fact lacking individual who felt it was his duty to challenge  my familys choice, or even our right to homeschool. Rather than tell him what I really thought of him and his right to judge my family I began to walk him through a small reality check.
When I find myself in a verbal altercation, I like to change the nouns to suit my argument. he who controls the vocabulary controls the discussion. So when he asked if ("Socialazation" was a problem within my "Homeschool"?) I said "No that I thought that the real problem was with Government Agents using intimidation, drugs, and peer pressure to institutionalize minor inmates, while using my tax dollars and federally funded facilities to warehouse children for parents too broke, self absorbed, or abivolent to the plight of their own children was a much larger problem". And the fact that this is considered normal and desirable is even more disturbing.
Please don't think that I am disrespecting the Government Teachers, Administrators, Janitors or Cooks. It is the system I detest, not the wardens.
The system model (K-12) was designed by the society that gave rise to a civilization that brought us the Nazi's. It was brought to our shores a hundred years ago by Industrialists needing cogs to operate the machinerey of their corprate empires. It breeds followers, conformists, lackeys and bullet catchers. That is what it was designed to do. The system is not broke, it is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
It is astounding to me that some children still get educated in the mess that is now our Government School system. It gets blamed for all of societys' problems, so we nturally  think that it can solve everything from literacy to teen pregnancy and malnourishment of neglected children. If only we gave more money, if only we had more schools, if only we got better at intigrating, if only we had more teachers. Insanity defined is "repeating an action with the expectation of different results". It is insane to continue to fund a system that clearly will never meet the hopes and expectations  that I have for my children
Look; if our school system were a business it would be going down like the titanic. Charges of unfair trade practices and monopolies linking it to the likes of Ma Bell would be all ove the T.V. Thousands would be joining the ENRON and Haliburton croud in jail, people would be demanding that the Government do something, People would be marching with signs "What have you done to our children".
Aren't you glad that it is the same warm loving fuzzy government that you don't trust to tell you the truth about UFO's, JFK, AIDS, WMD's, Vietnam, Elvis, Nuclear testing, Waco, Ruby Ridge, Murrah Building,  Iraq, IRS, FBI, CIA, Iran Contra, and dead Clinton lawers littering our nations  parks.  That we have indoctrinating your children.
It does'nt matter how you look at it, Literacy rate, teen pregnancy, STD's, Gender awareness, racism, math skills, college entry rates, life satisfaction, job satisfaction, bankrupcy rates, incarceration, credit abuse, drugs, alcohol abuse, tobacco use, the ability to invest in the stock market, nutrition, violence, and kids with wedgies, swirlies, and dumped in the trash can of life. You can take comfort in our governments omnicient megalithic wisdom. Welcome to high school kids, these are the best days of your life.
These are my children. My wife says so. I will raise them as I see fit. I will pay my taxes so the feds can program your children any way that "they" (Our blind bloated monopolistic bureurocracy) sees fit. And until my Constitutionally protected rights are taken from me "for my own good" we will homeschool and I will criticize the monopoly funded by my tax dollars that some will always lovingly refer to as "our public education system".  Good Night and God Bless
