In the Life of a Big Sis

It's Sad...

when an 11 year old girl is dating and her boyfriend wants to kiss her.  That's just insane.  We had an over-long  dating/homeschooling discussion in our second RU talk last night...both of S.'s visitors date.  (I'll call her S. lol)

I asked them the point of dating.  *long pause* "uhh...to um, have, um fun?  Yeah?"

So it isn't to feel out an 'Interestee' to see if he is a potential mate.  Why they'd have any business seeing if a guy is marriage material, I don't know, but whatever.

they both know girls who have gotten pregnant. At 10, 11, and 12.  That is just sad.  At that point, your body isn't ready to have your cycle yet, much less get pregnant.  In both the instances, the girls had been dating.

Which is the primary reason I don't date.

I had taken I Kissed Dating Goodbye to give to Angie, but she wasn't there last night, and Ruby saw the book and we got to talking about it, then somehow the topic of homeschooling came up.  I think Ruby and I pretty much convinced H & B that homeschooling was by far the better option.

After all, I'm the kid who gets to go to the museum when it's not crowded and gross and a bunch of other kids are blocking my view of the coolest exhibit since the beginning of time.  And I get to go to the zoo whenever I want.  I could go when it's snowing outside...just tell Mom I want to.  Of course, are they even open in the winter??  Dunno.

But I was just a litte surprised to hear about the 10 year old who got pregnant, had the baby, and then gave it to her mom to take care of.  Now she says it's her little sister.  Insane.

Little kids like that don't even have any business dating yet.  They're much to young...which is probably the reason they caved to the pressure of their boyfriend and had s*x.  (It's sad that that word is considered a bad word.)

I thought about loaning B. I Kissed Dating Goodbye.  Wonder if she'd get anything out of it.  But then she said she didn't like to read...then Ruby said she didn't either but she loved the book.

Speaking of babies...a lady at the church just had a little baby girl.  She is just the sweetest little thing.  I want one.

Hey, that is a really good post. I know a girl who was messed up from a freind because they were alone and "dating".
It is amazing how young some of these girls are!
A ten year old having a baby is scary.

Another good book.

Hey, I don't know if you have ever heard of this, but if you haven't, there is a really good book, called "Before You Meet Prince Charming" by Sarah Malley. This woman is a Christian, and she is unmarried and (apparently) for a safe courtship, in which the father is very involved. I don't know if this would help your friend, since she already has a bf, but it is a good book anyways :)

Hi there, my name is Melanie. I happened across your blog and was intrigued by the last post you made (your second post). I am sorry to see you haven't blogged since then. If you read this comment I hope you'll consider starting back up, or if you moved I hope you'll tell me where. I'm interested in what else you have to say!

Sincerely, Melanie
