Abeka,Charlotte Mason,Sonlight Oh My!!!

So I spent about half of my morning going through the endless websites filled with curriculums.  Someone could of warned me they have more selections than I could count.  I mean which road to go, child directed, textbook, unit studies etc.... Comforting that I have a powerful weapon called Prayer that helps me decide things when I can't.   So after surfing for awhile I have nailed it down to a few, here they are in no specific order.

1. Sonlight
2. School of Tomorrow
3. Abeka (although the whole memorizing EVERYTHING isn't really attractive)
4. Hearts of Wisdom
5. Saxon Math
6. Apologia for Science
7. Bible (Sonlight)

I liked Sonlight the best I must say, as I can use 1 program for both boys (Cost friendly), they are 1 "grade" level ahead of each other, but my oldest Egster is a little behind on his math and reading (and after being in that LOUD classroom yesterday, I can't say I blame him) so me and DH feel we should keep him on the Sonlight 3 and use that for Kooshman also, since he is well on track with finishing his 2nd "grade".  And for Moomi I liked the Sonlight 1 also.

I will continue to do my research and use Prayer of Course....

On a good note, we did our taxes and let me tell you GOD is good!!! We are going to get some very much needed money back!  Praising Him BIG TIME!!!

Hasta Manana!

Here we Go!!

So after much prayer and pursuasion to the hubby, we have the green light to homeschool!  But first let me tell you a ltttle of how we got to this point.  We have 3 little ones, which for the sake of mommy safety we will nicname, Egster (Age 9) my miracle in the making, was diagnosed with High functioning Autism at the age of 4 but I have officially undiagnosed him, he gets the help from docs and the modified work at school and is doing AWESOME, but I am waiting for a complete healing.  Next is Kooshman (Age 7) he is my imaginaion station on wheels, loves to draw and create and he has been asking to be homeschooled forever and now he has his chance, last but certainly not least is our princess which we will call (Moomi Age 6) so cute and so into nature and babydolls and loves to wander into books and anything that has glitter and pink on it.

My husband and I have been pastoring a church for about 7 months and love them to pieces!  It has been both a challenge and a victory and we can't wait to see what happens and what God has in store for us.

When we decided we would move to be closer to church I also thought why not homeschool the kiddos, I was so upset with the current school systems and my kids creativity was being extinguised by long homeworks and long days at school and after visiting a couple of times and praying for direction I started pursuing my research and fell in love with this way of teaching my kids.  DH has been wanting to resign from his secular job for awhile and focus more on the church, therefore be home more often, so we compromised and I said, I will go to work at from 7:00 -3:00 pm and you do morning homeschool and I will do the rest on the weekends or at night.  Note my DH is born in El Salvador therefore he is not completely fluent but does speak the language, but hey that can only be to their advantage right, learning the language.  So he will do the not english language needed much subjects (math, science) and I will do the rest.

So their you go,  the start to our adventure begins, and I can't wait to share it with you all!

Be blessed,
Erika
