Timeline Figures

We have been needing to order some things for the new homeschool year, but haven't been able to afford to.....now w/Bob's new job, we are finally able to do some things here and there.....so I have decided to just order a little bit at a time, depending on the need...I have been wanting these timeline figures for a long while now and was hoping to get the cds, but we won't  be able to afford those for a long while, so I decided to get the printed ones one at a time....We have the first 2 volumes of Story of the World, and I really want to follow a timeline concept w/Rosie, plus I have a couple other resources that I want to pick up before we begin volume 1.....including the activity guides for them, The Kingfisher History Encyclopedia and The Useborne book of World History.  I am hoping to be able to order these in the next few weeks...The older kids are really wanting me to hurry and order volumes 3 and 4 as well....They don't use them as official school books, (Jake does, but not the older 3) but they have really enjoyed reading the first two volumes and are really looking forward to reading the others.....

I also have a small (???) list of books that I am really wanting to order soon from Master Books...Anyone familier w/ any of these???  They are available from

New Leaf Publishing Group.  The older kids have done all their science learning from there so far and we have been very happy w/ the books that we have purchased from them already....

I also need to order an English/Grammar book for Aaron...He has already finished Easy Grammar Plus awhile ago....but I really want him to do some more....I haven't decided if I am going to go w/ Jensen's Format Writing, Jensen's Punctuation, and Jensen's Grammar...We have the Jensen's Vocabulary one....Natalie and Nikki are working through it now, and Natalie is really enjoying it, but it is giving Nikki fits.......or  if I want to order the Applications of Grammar set that Christian Liberty Press uses???  Ugh~ decisions, decisions......Anyone use any of these before??  Happy or Unhappy w/ either/or????

I think deciding which textbooks to order is one of the most difficult decisions w/ homeschooling for me....money is an issue, so I really need to get it right the first time.....if we don't like it, we are stuck w/ it...and I am trying to order things that I will be able to use later for the younger kids as well....Mostly I think, I have done okay....even been pleasantly surprised on a couple decisions....

Well, Bob will be home soon, and my computer time is over for now....time to get back to being a Mom......not that I ever really stopped, lol...I've been interrupted ever 15 seconds by all of the kids as I have been typing these posts....Take care everyone~

Ps....I also posted over on my Xanga blog, if you didn't find this too long and boring....lol....

Karen~
We have those Timeline Figurines.
Actually, when I bought my Mystery of History volume 1 at convention last year~ they were selling it as a set with those figurines and 2 different atlases. They come in very handy.
We are using them in a binder-style timeline called "Wonders of Old" that I ordered through Homeschool E-store.

We've also been using those timeline figures this year and loving it. (We're using MOH.) I'm emailing you about one of the books you mentioned...
How is your hand these days?? (Hoping better!)

Oct. 23, 2006 - Curriculum

Posted by Ruth

This is my first year homeschooling and last year I didn't have time to research curriculum. Money is also an issue with us and I have to use the curriculum that I purchased. I understand how important it is to order the right things. Could you tell me a little about the Story of the World. I haven't heard much about them except that many people enjoy them. I'm considering it for next year. I'll be praying you make the right choices for your curriculum.
Blessings, Ruth
