Posted in Books we use for our learning
One of my biggest fears in homeschooling is how to teach my children to read......Rosie went to kindergarten and reading came so easily to her......so, Alli is the first one who has never been to school, just homeschooled....and I have been so nervous about how long it would take to teach her to read.....well, after practicing sight word flashcards w/ her and having her copy the words, we dug out the Dick and Jane books...(we have the paperback ones and 2 larger treasury collections) ....and after a few attempts, she is reading!!!!! I am so excited....
Rosie has been spending quite a bit of time each day reading also.....Last week she finished, The Last Little Cat, Puppy Summer, and she started reading Miss Hickory. This week we will be doing alot of reading for our SOTW book.......I was unable to get some of the books I need from our local library, so I ordered them from other libraries, and had to wait for them to come in.....Well, they are here, so it's time to get started.....Some of the ones we will be reading are:
Bill and Pete Go Down the Nile
Ms Frizzle's Adventures Ancient Egypt
Everyday Life in Ancient Egypt
DK Eyewitness Books Ancient Egypt
(can you guess what we are learning about??? lol!!!)
Here are a couple more pics:
~Rosie's science project that we got from www.kidzone.ws

and the seeds that the girls planeted on March 8th....

Can you tell we are having fun doing lots more hands-on type projects???? Sure beats book work anyday!!!!
