For Women Only & The Parenting of Champions
One nice plus of the time I work with Linda is that I have a good chunk of time while there to read. This week I read the book For Women Only. Ladies, this book is EXCELLENT. I highly recommend it. It gives wonderful insight to how men think. It is very well written and a very easy read.
I have also been reading The Parenting of Champions again. I have read it once before but read through it quickly and didn't take the time to really think and pray on what I was reading. This book is out of print but is so worth the search of finding it. It is by J. R. Lucas. I found mine on ebay. I wanted to share a little from one chapter. The title of the chapter is "The Power of an Excellent Example" Talk about a convicting chapter. Oh my!!!!!
The conclusion of this chapter says this:
"Your children imitate what you do even more than what you say. Therefore, the greatest teaching tool that you have is the power of an excellent example. You can teach your children to:
-
Be spiritually inquisitive by watching you seek after God;
-
Honor you by watching you honor your own parents;
-
Obey authority by watching you submit to it willingly;
-
Avoid quarreling by watching you always respect your spouse;
-
Keep pure thoughts by watching you control what you see and hear;
-
Seek forgiveness by watching you seek it from them and others;
-
Learn to help those in trouble by watching you do it;
-
Seek justice and help for the truly poor by watching you give.
Frank McKinney Hubbard said, 'the reason parents no longer lead their children in the right direction is because the parents aren't going that way themselves.' I would say he understood parenting pretty well."
Again, this book is worth any effort it takes you to track it down. You will not regret the purchase.
Share a Blessing!

It sounds like a great book.
BTW, I come to your site everyday, just to hear "Blessed Be the Name." I LOVE that song. My son and his college roommate used to play guitar and piano and sing that for me. (Right after it came out.)
