Jun. 10, 2008 - My steps are ordered
He who is of a merry heart has a continual feast.
(Proverbs 15:15b)
Yes, that must be it, my steps are ordered. When I put the Bible verse of the day into my template it was because my theme verse was the verse of the day. That wasn't that long ago, maybe it's been six weeks? Lo, and behold it is today's verse of the day again. I've been reading about joy this morning!

I'm honoring my husband by praying for him for the next 30 days. It's not too late to join us. Sign Mr. Linky here. I know this is the last day of the challenge, but I'm going to start this again tomorrow. I'm considering the past month a practice run. Of the 68 ladies that have signed up to pray for their husbands in this challenge, most all started a week or more into the challenge. Anyone willing to report on how this challenge is going? Seen any positive results? Are you finding the areas in which you are praying for your husband are sometimes areas in which you need some help in?

May. 21, 2008 - The Wife's Choice: Flight or Fight (In Prayer)
From Psalm 124 (KJV):
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
The Power of a Praying Wife website Click above for excerpt from Chapter 1
This is an excerpt from the Introduction:
If you wake up one morning with a stranger in your bed and it's your husband, if you experience a silent withdrawal from one another's lives that severs all emotional connection, if you sense a relentless draining away of love and hope, if your relationship is in so bottomless a pit of hurt and anger that every day sends you deeper into despair, if every word spoken drives a wedge further between you until it becomes an impenetrable barrier keeping you miles apart, be assured that none of the above is God's will for your marriage. God's will is to break down all the barriers and lift you out of that pit. He can heal the wounds and put love back in your heart. Nothing and no one else can.
But you have to rise up and say, "Lord, I pray for an end to this conflict and a breaking of the hold strife has on us. Take away the hurt and the armor we've put up to protect ourselves. Lift us out of the pit of unforgiveness. Speak through us so that our words reflect Your love, peace, and reconciliation. Tear down this wall between us and teach us how to walk through it. Enable us to rise up from this paralysis and move into the healing and wholeness You have for us."

May. 21, 2008 - Link: "Alone" Carolyn's story from "No Greater Joy"
Debi Pearl, in "Created To Be His Help Meet", discusses the important, beneficial role of fear. Carolyn's story, found in the book and the "No Greater Joy" online magazine, is an encouragement to some of us wives to not take our husbands for granted.
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom..." (Psalm 111:10)
ALONE
By: Carolyn
snip:
I am 50 years old and have essentially been alone for 21 years. I never thought this would be my life. At no time did it cross my mind that my husband would ever leave me. Although I had been in church all of my life and been taught out of the Bible, I was not saved and did not know anything about being a wife. As I look back, I now know that I made many mistakes in my relationship with my husband.
Today, I see and hear young wives, and older wives as well, thoughtlessly making those very same mistakes with their husbands. (To read the rest of Carolyn's story, click the link above.)

May. 21, 2008 - "Honor Your Husband Challenge" - Day 18
Update: There are now 67 women who have joined us in prayer for their husbands. My plan when I reach the end of the 30 days is to start again for another 30 days plus add a little something extra each day (for a little variety and putting some feet into honoring my husband) the next time around.
I'm honoring my husband by praying for him for the next 30 days. It's not too late to join us. Sign Mr. Linky here.
List at Revive Our Hearts
Day 18
Pray that your husband will have an eternal perspective—living in light of eternity. Pray that he will reject materialism and temporal values and put God first in his life.
(Matt. 6:33; Deut. 6:5; Eph. 5:16; Ps. 90:12)

May. 20, 2008 - Link: "Which Type is Your Husband?"
Created to be His Help Meet (excerpt)
By: Debi Pearl
snip:
Every young bride has a preconceived notion of what her husband should be like. When she realizes that he fails to meet that standard, she spends the remainder of their marriage trying to change him.
A bride’s foundational mistake is not taking note of and accepting the fact that God makes men in three different types or images, just like His own nature–that of the Godhead. Which type is your man? (see the link above to read more)

May. 20, 2008 - The Wife's Choice: "Change My Heart of God" or "Sabotage My Own Prayers"
Well, today I began reading the book "The Power of a Praying Wife", by Stormie Omartian. I even have the prayer and study guide which accompanies it. The first chapter is entitled, "His Wife". The first paragraph discusses the hard part about being a praying wife. It is maintaining a pure heart which is necessary to see the results in prayer. Since I don't want my prayers sabotaged, I'm taking a look today at what it means to have a clean heart.
Psalm 51 -King James Bible
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
Change My Heart Oh God
Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You
Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You
You are the potter
I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray
Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You
English Lyrics
I read a message online this morning called, "Change My Heart, Oh God", written by David P. Nolte. This message is about Psalm 51. It discusses a contrite heart, genuine confession and cleansing that renews the joy of salvation.
