Seeking Wisdom In All Things

Proverbs 17: 24 Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom,
but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.

Growing up in the home with an alcoholic mother and a "distant" father, not a lot of wisdom was passed on to me. It seemed like the majority of things that I learned while growing up were a list of things NOT to do.
Getting married and having a family has been, and probably always will be a HUGE challenge for me because I have really nothing to go by, no traditions to carry on, no one to call on for motherly advice, and this constant feeling of inadequacy in everything I set my mind to do since I had never SEEN it done before.
The Lord placed me in the family I had for a reason although I'm still not sure what it is.
The GOOD NEWS is that He has helped me every step of the way as I raise these three precious children of mine.
It all started when I first found out I was expecting little Macie. No one knew about the fact that I was pregnant yet because we decided not to tell anyone at first. This happened to be at the time that we finished a ministry course at church (FOUNDATIONS), and the elders at the church lay their hands on every one at the end and prophecy over them.
We were completely amazed, and overwhelmed when they began to pray that I would have the "heart of a mother" and that I would set an example of what a godly mother is, and that other mothers would look up to me. ME? It was the Lord who moved upon those elders to pray over me, and to essentially equip me for the task at hand.
It was right after that that we announced our new arrival that was due the following February and I felt a sense of  relief that the Lord would help me, and be with me throughout the whole process.
That feeling has been with me for EIGHT years now as David & I have welcomed not just Macie, but Caleb and Luke into our family as well.
I feel like one of the ways the Lord has helped me is by giving me the desire to start a library. Macie was 6 months old when Janice Johnson, Gin Privett  and I began to put the library together. I feel like the library was put in place for many people, but especially for me.
It is no accident that many of the books donated were those that were written by women, like me, who had the desire to raise up a godly family, and put in the books ways to go about that.  I incorporated almost all of the ways I have raised my children from books I read in the library written by women who lived their lives directly in line with what the Scripture says.
The mentors in my life are mostly people I've never met, but had a story to tell, and God led them to put it in book form.  I thank God for these women, and I hope to be one to some young mom some day!
The writer of Proverbs says in the 17th chapter about keeping our eyes glued on wisdom, and the fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.
How do you keep your eyes glued on wisdom? You definitely have to make choices everyday about what you see on TV, at the movies, and what you read as well. As the church librarian, I strive to put books and movies in there that will make your relationship with God and your family and the Body stronger.
We now have more options to check out our library, you can visit the coffee room for a selection of our most recent additions, or go to the educational building for our entire collection.
Thanks, and God Bless You as you "keep your eyes glued on wisdom."
