One Blessed Mama

• Feb. 15, 2006 - a sweet Valentines

Yesterday we were invited to a Valentines party out in the country. There were about 4-5  families...so that makes about 50 or so kids. I love watching homeschooled kids play together. Not many people dare argue with me about homeschooling at this point, but if they do I love to bring up the fact that homeschooled kids love one another. It warms my heart to look out and see 13-year-olds playing with the 4-year-olds. THAT is OUR real world.

The highlight of the day was getting to watch a baby goat be born. Our hostess was a sweet, 40-something, (I suspect Italian?), woman with a strong Boston accent. "Call Papa..and get some hot water and molasses!" She then proceeded to help birth this goat while we all watched. She's my new hero. When the bag of waters was bulging Hannah exclaimed, "Look mom, she's laying an egg!"

Perhaps I should have let her witness Jed's birth afterall.

Hannah's comment is too cute! Sounds as if you had a wonderful day. The miracle of birth never ceases to amaze me.
