Mar. 27, 2006 - Monday rambling
I wasn't sure if I would be able to go to CONVENTION this year.
Turns out I can go on the Saturday because my friend's husband offered to take us
.
( We're a little afraid to drive, can you tell?)
I am making my list of what I need to buy. One subject I'm not sure about is science for my soon to be 9th grader. I could go with Bob Jones Physical Science ( we use HomeSat for some subjects) but their books and lab equipment are very expensive-- over $300.
I am going to look into Apologia also. Their 9th grade is Biology but I'm thinking dd could do Exploring Creation with Physical Science ( technically 8th grade).
I don't believe I am planning for high school! My other kids will be in 5th and 2nd.
In other news, dd has called numerous times and is having a blast! I'm sure time is flying by for her.
Does anyone here get Above Rubies magazine or Taste of Home?
I am excited because the new issues came in the mail today. I love TOH -- I've subscribed since the beginning. AR is like getting a mini retreat in the mail. I did the happy dance today when I realized it came in.
I am really looking forward to the next TOS but we still have a while to go.
Blessings, Cheryl

Hello :) Thanks for the comment on my blog. I just had to pop over and say HI :)
I used to receive TOH, but I've switched to their Light & Tasty magazine instead. LOVE IT! I do have all my TOH from 10/95 through 3 months ago. I am pathetic LOL.
We used Apologia physical science for 9th grade. It has worked really good for us and I will use it for 9th grade science again with the next 2. We'll be heading into biology next year for my 10th grader. I know what you mean about planning high school. It's not as overwhelming to actually do it as it is to plan :)
I'm going to add you to my friends list so I remember to check back.

I am sending out a "mass apology" to everyone I told about "The Clean Heart, Clean Home Challenge". I have received some comments in regard to leaving the button on people's blogs and I feel the best way to make sure there aren't others who are offended, is to apologize to those I sent the notice to.
I feel just horrible that some thought I was "advertising" in some way when my intention was to share with other homeschoolers what I was offering as encouragement and a way for us to join together.
If you are one who was upset by my post, please feel free to delete it and email me or leave a comment on my page and I will personally apologize. To those who have joined in The Challenge, I'm so looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us and hope we will all be able to bless our families and grow in the Lord through it! Thank you most importantly for seeing my heart. I never meant to disregard anyone's post when I left the comment about the Challenge, and want you all to know that anything you ever have to say to me, whether on topic or not, is more than welcome on my blog. I will also be making a new category on my blog that will list those of you who don't mind getting urgent prayer requests or information from time to time. I hope this way I will be able to avoid upsetting anyone similarly in the future.
Thanks for allowing me to comment on your blog. I hope you will accept my apology (and not be upset that I'm "off topic" from your post, but I have many people to get to still tonight).
In Him,
Amy Verlennich

I get Above Rubies---it's excellent! I also get Country Woman, which is done by the same company as TOH. I enjoy it, too.
Re: conventions, have you tried my new e-course about preparing for your homeschool convention? It's free---you can check it out at:

PS You will love doing high school---I didn't want to do it at first but now I am sure glad I did!

Your children are a spaced about the same age apart as mine.
I'd love to hear about what you do for History.
Also interested in what you land on for Science.
I have used Apologia Elementary this year, but don't know if I will do this next.
I love the idea of sending scripture index cards with your daughter.
Praying she had a great vacation.
Thank you for stopping by my blog.
Enjoy your day, as you continually shine for the Lord,
God bless,
Linda
