Mar. 5, 2007 - The Invite

Ok, so now, as I said in an earlier post..I feel totally convicted to share this heart hitting message with you. I am not just convicted, I was challenged.

Yesterday, our awesome pastor talked about invitations. How quick we are to invite people to the movies, dinner, or our homes. All of us have invited someone over to dinner or to go hang out somewhere... And he talked about the most important invitation EVER. Now, PLEASE don't expect me to present this as eloquently as he did, but here is the gist of it ;)

All of us who are familiar with God's Word have heard the parable of the Wedding Banquet, about the King(God) who sent his servants(God's "street team" if you will) to invite guests to his Son's(Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ) wedding banquet, but they wouldn't come. So he sent out more servants to invite more guests and the servants were beaten and killed. Being as the banquet was already prepared and his guests proved not worthy of this feast, he sent out yet another round of servants to just go and invite people off of the streets ~ anyone who would come. And they did, and the place was filled.

Verses 11-13 say "When the king entered and looked over the scene, he spotted a man who wasn't properly dressed. He said to him, 'Friend, how dare you come in here looking like that!' The man was speechless. Then the king told his servants, 'Get him out of here—fast. Tie him up and ship him to hell. And make sure he doesn't get back in."

Obviously they weren't talking about his actual clothing because they just pulled people off of the streets. And no one noticed until the king walked in. The King saw inside of his heart. We can dress up on the outside. We can talk a good game. We may fool others into believing that we are doing all we can as His Servants. But when it comes down to it, we can't get anything past God. What will He see when he looks into our hearts?

As he was breaking down the parable he challenged us. Any and all of us who love and serve Him. This is where the challenge comes in. Our Creator has prepared eternity to be the most bangin party EVER. How many of us have recently invited someone else to join us on our spiritual journey? For those of us that have a relationship with Christ isn't this the greatest invite we could give?

So my dear friends, not only do I sincerely invite you to join me in my spiritual journey, but as our pastor challenged us, I also challenge YOU to serve God by being an active part of His Ultimate Street Team.

"That's what I mean when I say, 'Many get invited; only a few make it.' Matthew 22:14 The Message

Lets make it together!

His Grace Love and Peace to you and yours,
Heather
