Mar. 13, 2007 - overheard at our house....
i thought u might get a kick out of this conversation between 5yo dd and i the other day after her cousin told me that jay jay slapped her while she was playing:
jayjay: (skipping out onto the back porch ~ "it was an accididn't!" ~ no that's not a typo she said acci-didn't
me: "i don't think it's possible to slap someone in the face on accident. how did you do that?"
jayjay:"weeeellll, i guess i wasn't looking where my hands were going"
me: "well you hurt becca and made her sad. what do you think you should probably do next time?"
jayjay: "i know, how i treat becca is how i am treating Jesus...so next time i should say i'm sorry and ask her for forgiveness!"
me: "ya that's exactly right! you should definently do that this time too..but what do you think you should do about the slapping?"
jayjay: longggg, thoughtful pause ~ "ummm..." ~ proud smile ~ "i should pay attention next time i slap someone!"
me: turning trying to keep a straight face and not completely crack up, ~ "hmmm...do you think maybe you should pay attention, so that you *don't slap anyone at all?"
jayjay: "silly mommy ~ big grin, rolls eyes ~ that's just what i said!"
my mom was there and when jayna hopped back inside to apologize to her cousin we just looked at each other and lost it :)
