Enjoy A Peek Into The Wood Family Home- Where Blessings Truly Abound!

Jun. 9, 2006 - Really Really Excited!!!

Friends,

Have you ever been Super Duper Excited about something yet told yourself not to be?!? Well, that is where I am today. I am REALLY EXCITED about a piece of property that we may be able to purcahse. It is 40 acres with a year around stream and a great well. The home doesn't have power, phone and isn't much in design or style. BUT the LAND... that has HUGE possiblity. We could always fix up the home to use as a guest house and build our home at a later time. I don't mind living without power if we can use solar or another power source. However, the power plant isn't that far away so it may be an option to have the power brought in. I am just so excited and yet see there is going to be TONS of work! However, when I consider the work that lay ahead and the blessings from that work I get even more excited.

We are going to look at the property on Monday hopefuly, and I will keep you all posted. This isn't being put up on the market for sale it is being offered to us through friends of a friend of a friend.. I feel blessed they would even consider us! OH, yes!!! And I just got done talking with our lender and he has two banks that will loan us the money with it in the condition it is.. that is a HUGE answer to prayer. Okay... so can you tell? I am REALLY excited!

P.S. I hope you all like my redecorating here at the blog! My son, Elisha, helped me with the layout and I purcahsed all the graphics offered by http://www.hshpgraphics.com/aboutme.htm Karol does wonderful work as you can all see! Go visit her site sometime and pick up some graphics for your blogs too!

Have a great day friends and keep in touch! What's going on in your heart and homes?

Love,

Mrs. Joseph Wood (Jeanette)

Jun. 8, 2006 - It's Terrific Thursday at the Wood Home!

Hello Friends life is busy as always, but 100% blessed over here at the Wood Home. I have been busy working at the desk this morning with our home business. As many of you know the Lord allowed me to help with some much needed funds by working at home while the children sleep. I can get my work done before they wake in the morning and then finish up while they take naps. These funds have been an awesome blessing for our family and allowed us to do things we wouldn’t of been able to do otherwise.

Sammy isn’t feeling well this morning, he was up early this am with vomiting and aches. All the other children are doing just fine and show no sign of illness so I believe it must be something that just Sammy has caught. We did go out this last weekend to a used book fair so that may be where he picked up some yucky bug. Sammy doesn’t do well going out because of his compromised immune system due to his FAS.

Joe is out on the road today, he’s a truck driver and works four days a week and then home for three. It never fails when he goes back on the road, baby will ask, “Where’s daddy?” over and over and over and OVER! He starts his questioning as soon as he checks our bedroom and sees daddy’s not in the bed. He has a hard time if anyone is missing in the home. Last night Bekah went to a Church function while the rest of us stayed home, it wasn’t too long before he started running up and down the halls yelling at the top of his little lungs, “SISSY… WHERE ARE YOU… SISSY?!?!?” The other girls answered him but he was quick to tell them he was looking for BIG SISSY and wanted her RIGHT NOW! Our little guy is so precious!!!

Well, it is going to be a day of training, growing and loving here in my home and I am looking forward to every moment of it, how about you? Take care friends, and we will chat again soon!

Jun. 4, 2006 - Hello friends!

Hello everyone!

So how's everyone doing? Here's what’s been going on in my heart and home

The children had a fun day swimming and DEEP cleaning the home and doing yard work... okay, so maybe they just had fun swimming and tolerated all the rest but I had fun seeing it all get accomplished!

I am really big on keeping a neat and tidy home. Is it always perfect? NO WAY! Yet t is always welcoming and tidy enough to have unexpected guest enter. This is something we learned to master pretty good after reading Emily Barnes book- 15 Minute Home Organizer.  Any one else ever read this book? It was probably ten years ago that I first read it but it was truly life changing for me.

The Lord is always so faithful to lead me perfectly in my tasks of being a mommy and wife. I don't know how many of you know me well enough to know, so I will share here for all my new friends: I had NO CLUE on how to be a wife and mommy when I first married my Joe. I didn't know how to cook even simple meals like mac and cheese and truthfully I had no idea that making something out of "scratch" didn't mean you start with a Betty Crocker box first. Truly, I was shocked to learn that people knew how to make meals without a box first! The Lord has been so faithful to teach me over the years and my Joe has been very patient. I remember how proud he was the year I won first place with my cheesecake at the fair. I think he was more excited than I was. Another thing I learned and loved from Emily Barnes book was about ministering to my husband and practical ways I could bless him. There were so many tips from that book that truly made a heart difference in me.

I am excited about the next few days, Joe and I will be praying and considering what lessons we will work on with each of our children this next year and what tools we will use to accomplish our goals. I love this time together! I'll keep you posted on what we decide to do. Has anyone been attending home school conventions in your area? I went to a used curriculum fair this last Saturday and found some treasures, my favorite being the Russia unit from KONOS for only 15.00! I also picked up a "like new" copy of KONOS volume 1 for a friend and it only cost 15.00 also! Pretty cool!! I had just bought a brand new volume so I know this will be a HUGE blessing to her!

I am going to be leaving with Bekah and Jed in the next few weeks to go to OK for camp and I will go to TX to visit some friends. This is going to be a fun trip to take with my big kids; I am really looking forward to it. Joe is taking time off to be with all the other children here at home, I wish we could have all made the trip together but it just wasn't an option this time.

I better get going here, Sarah wants me to cuddle with her and I can't miss a moment like that! Keep in touch and share what's going on in your heart and home when you have time. I would love to hear!! Good night dear friends!

Jun. 1, 2006 - Learning States and Regions

Okay, I don't **think** we are doing States and Regions this year in our KONOS units. I say think because Joe and I haven't finalized our lessons for the year. We have a date to finish it up next week. Monday-Wednesday has been set aside as "our" time to really discuss each childs needs and our desires for lessons this next year.

However, when we did do States and Regions a few years ago, we had a blast! We got together with several other KONOS friends through the KONOS email loop and did a co-op through the mail where we shared information with the other families on our state. It was AWESOME!!! The children really loved getting the mail. Some included dirt, seeds, money.. all kinds of things. If you haven't done States and Regions yet I would suggest this idea to you. If you aren't already part of the KONOS eamil loop you can join by going to:

A friend sent me this link today that I thought would be great to go along with a States and Regions unit. At the end of each unit the children put on a play of what they have learned and this would be a great intro for the play. ENJOY!

Has anyone else done the KONOS States and Regions unit? I would love to hear what activities you did and how it turned out. Have a wonderful day friends and I will talk with you all again soon!
