I think the poem was about hope even in your darkest hour. About there is a light in the distance, even when you see no light at all. Light always defeats the dark; all we need to do is look for that said Light. It’s like he frequently is asking “Where is the Light?” since he is in the darkest most lightless place. All we need do is hope that that light is there!

What this poem means to me? It means that I can hope for a light and know for certain that that light is there! It has the very meaning of life! Hope in our Lord, Jesus Christ, He is the light that I’ve been talking about! It means that I am not in the lightless pit that I thought I was in.
