Chapter 2.
Mousehunter walked down the street, moving from block to block.
On the edge of the town he turned onto a country road.
It was pretty this time of year with the redbud in bloom.
He walked ten miles when he came to
a clean farm.
He walked up the white steps and knocked on the door.
An old woman opened the door.
“Oh, what have we here,” said the old woman.
"I’ve come to work, if you’d take me.” Mousehunter said.
"Come in and I’ll give you a job. Only we’ll call you Mousy! You’ll sleep in the attic." said the old woman.
