Dad left the hose on in the garden. It made a stream in the pumpkin bed. There was an island in the middle of the stream. One day I was watching the island, and I saw two ants that got washed down the stream. They had managed to get onto the island and now they were walking down the bank, sticking their feet in the water and pulling them out again. They saw a part of the land that went straight out into the stream. They decided to swim there. Later, when I came back there was ant over there, but there were no ants on the island. One ant was on the bridge climbing up and going to his home. The other one had drowned.
   Ants are just like people. They have babies that are wrapped up like human babies in blankets. They test the water before swimming. They know how to survive on an island. If you are ever on
an island watch what an ant does and do it!
