The Way I See It
Dateline: Jan. 12, 2007
Old dog, new tricks?

I can't believe how discouraged I am. What did I expect? Well, obviously, I expected to be able to do this, after all other people do it.   I read the book, I watched the videos. I bought the right tools. Why do I have too many fingers and not enough hands? I have such hopes and dreams, nice relaxing occupation while chatting with friends or performing "Watch this, mommy!" duty, producing heirlooms for my grandchildren-to-be.

What is wrong with me?  Why can't I knit?  I am afraid to even try to "purl". And you have heard of "a dropped stitch"?  Well, whoever dropped it, I know where it is, on my needle. I started with 30 stitches and now have 31 or 32, depending on if the shredded looking bit is one or two stitches.

So if you dropped your stitches and would like them back, please come on over. And while you are here, HELP ME!!!

Oh, I wish I could help you - and help myself. I have never been able to master the art of knitting. What really frosts me is when I read about all these Hollywood actresses who knit on the set, and I think, "Hey, they're not any smarter than me! Why can't I do this?!"
Sympathies. :)

Oh my! I think you need two extra hands to do that, and maybe a foot to keep the ball of yarn from rolling away. I think my mom taught me how to knit in high school, but that's as far as it got. I may have finished one scarf for a Barbie. In fact I think I've got some yarn in my craft box from when I thought I'd knit David a baby blanket. Obviously that was before he was born! Best of luck my dear friend.

don't loose hope! It took me a while, watching those videos, over and over again to get the hang of it. I have done the same thing by adding or loosing stitches somewhere. For me, the more I did it, the more I could see a pattern developing. If we lived nearer, I'd show you how to do it! Thanks for the linky to my blog..hehe!
