Liberty Requires Due Diligence--Thoughts on your Civil Responsibilities

"There is no question that we have failed to live up to the dreams of the founding fathers many times and in many places. Sometimes we do better than others. But all in all, the one thing we must be on guard against is thinking that because of this, the system has failed. The system has not failed. Some human beings have failed the system." Ronald Reagan

"Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude." Alexis de Toqueville

"Politics ought to be the part-time profession of every citizen who would protect the rights and privileges of free people and who would preserve what is good and fruitful in our national heritage." Dwight D. Eisenhauer

"A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both." Dwight D. Eisenhauer

"You don't lead by hitting people over the head--that's assault, not leadership." Dwight D. Eisenhauer
"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle."
Edmund Burke, Thoughts on the Cause of the Present Discontent. Vol. i. p. 526.
Often quoted as
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
"The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion."
Edmund Burke, Speech at County Meeting of Bucks, 1784.
"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." George Santayana

I have seen the enemy . . .

Feeling angry at Bush?

Consider this from the Wall Street Journal:

No matter how you may be feeling today, I wanted to encourage all the Essential Mothers out there to keep on doing that essential mothering thing. We can make a difference.

Semantic Victory in Site?

Only God knows what the future holds for the United States tomorrow.
However, if you are claiming historic victory before all the votes are cast, you might want to hedge your bets. Best plan:  redefine what a landslide is so that way you can claim a landslide victory if there isn't one.

"It usually means exceeding expectations and being somewhat overwhelming . . ."

By this definition Ross Perot won in a landslide in 1992.

You may be reminded of a certain President redefining the word "is."
More confirmation that elitists think we are all so very stupid. Only time will tell how stupid we really are.
Vote tomorrow if you have not already. Pray for Godly leaders to be elected to office, though we deserve the fools we vote for.

Will you cast your vote to end limited government?

If you have been waiting to cast your vote, perhaps you are uncertain as to which candidate represents the best opportunity for change and hope. Perhaps you are questioning the wisdom of more years of failed Bush policies.

However, you might want to consider whether or not you'd like to have four more years of limited government. Our founding fathers reigned in the power of any single branch of government so as to limit the potential for . . . . evil, tyranny, and other tramplings of justice.

As Christians today, we should be able to comprehend the wisdom of limited government because we believe what the Bible teaches: that is, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Knowing the capacity of human beings to wreak great evil on the world, especially those with great power, our founding fathers set up a governmental system that would make unleashing great evil fairly difficult to do.

Most of us did manage to learn about this characteristic in public school, back in the days when apparently, some students did learn something. It used to be called "checks and balances."

Today, we ignorantly say "Washington is broken." Actually, Washington was never designed to "work" very well. That is our protection against the evil in the hearts of men.

Perhaps after 232 years, enough is enough.

Which candidate sees the presidency as the conduit for change that includes fundamental change in our system of limited government?

Find out from the candidate himself.

Redistribution of weath? Is limited governement a "fatal flaw" ?

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YmFhYzIzMGQ1Y2FlMTA4N2M1N2VmZWUzM2Y4ZmNmYmI=

Have you ever wondered how the nation of Israel could continue to succumb to the peer pressure of the surrounding godless nations? How could they erect golden statues when the hand of God was so clearly directing them (you know the pillar of fire, manna, the ten commandments, and all that)? How could they?

Maybe we could blame it on evolution. We're so much smarter today.

Well then, what about a nation that tolerates slavery or a holocaust?

If you have ever wondered, look around you. An ignorant electorate, a press corp so slanted to one side as to be comical,  and an opposition that can't seem to gain traction with the arguments that should matter to all Americans.

Here we go again.

Undecided Voters: Read This

Are the two choices really that similar? Should you just sit this election out?

If you are undecided in this election, please consider these thoughts from Michael Medved.
