What I Love about Being a Mom.
Mondays are hard aren’t they? Everyone can use a pick me up on Mondays, especially Moms! I decided blogging might be a fun way to encourage each other as mothers and give each other that much needed lift of encouragement on Mondays at the same time.
So, this is the Meme about Mothering on Mondays!
As a Mom, I love teaching my children. Nothing is as rewarding as witnessing that Light Bulb Moment in your children. From the moment of birth, teaching happens. Most “Mom” teaching happens naturally. One of my favorite moments in my memory of being a mother happened while I was reading to my daughter, who was about 21 months old. We had been reading Goodnight Gorilla over and over and over – you know how that is right? Toddlers love repetition, and we were on our sixth or seventh week of reading this book four or five times a night. In the meantime, this little girl was not learning to sleep through the night in her own bed. Every morning at about 4 a.m., she would wake up and cry until I came and got her out of the crib and brought her in to my bed. There she would sleep peacefully until morning, cuddled up with Mom. Suddenly, one night as we were reading Goodnight Gorilla together, A got this Amazing Light Bulb Moment look on her face. Her eyes lit up, her jaw dropped open, and she started jumping up and down. “Me!” she said. “ Me the Gorilla!!!” I just looked at her in shock. Then I said, “You are right A, you are the Gorilla!” and we laughed together. That morning at four a.m., when A started to cry I did go and get her; but after a few moments of cuddling I took her right back to her bed and said, “Goodnight Zoo.” Her habits did not change over night, but it didn’t take too many weeks for her to stay in her own bed all through the night. Turns out we were both learning…

YOUR blog is fun...not you're. I know, I just was typing fast and it's 1:20am. Tried to backspace to change it but it had already submitted it. Tell my buddy C to have a cookie for me and hi from his favorite aunt. lol

The bottom line is; We try not to insist on parent-led learning or gravitate toward child-led learning. We try instead to focus on God-led learning and ask for His input and perspective on every aspect of our home school. That way, when others fuss about what Dan and I are doing and make me second guess our decisions -- I can go back to our decision process and find God's fingerprints, reminding me that this is His way.
