(For the Love of) Mothering on Monday

Here we are again, another Monday.  I was so excited to see several people join me last week for this new meme.  Be sure to check back each week, as we strive to encourage each other to Love Mothering.  Concentrate on the parts you love, so that you will have a spirit of loveliness revealed to your children.  Sometimes, it is easy to love what we do; and sometimes it isn't!

I am always encouraged by visits to my sister's blog or to her home.  She tries to make everything fun!  Every little thing becomes a game or special event.  She involves her little girl in almost everything she does.  She adds little extras into every day.  For the most part, happiness and peace reign.  I am always encouraged to go back to my "first love" of mothering after spending a few days in her guest bed.  She is a mother of one, and I am a mother of four.  Somewhere between my first and my fourth, I forgot how much fun and games can change the dynamics.  So, I work on it

This morning I purposed to enjoy my special teaching time with my four year old.  This time can be a struggle where to strong-willed individuals collide or I can purpose to make it pleasant for us both.  She received two new school books this past weekend, so she was pretty excited to dive in!  We started out by making Rice Krispy treats together, and then proceeded to do the "seatwork".  Adding that extra touch of treats  made this time really special for her.  After all, the cook's helper gets to lick the spoon!!!

Someone told me once, "when your children are young, you never know which days will stay in their memory and which ones will vanish."  I hope my children remember the days we make Rice Krispy treats together and cuddle on the couch with a good book.

May you be encouraged to Love Mothering on Mondays and every other day of the week!

If you would like to join me, please follow these steps.  1.  Create Your Mondays on Mothering post.  2.  Sign Mr. Linky linking to your Mondays on Mothering post.  3. Don't forget to leave a comment!

Happy Monday,

About Me

The bottom line is; We try not to insist on parent-led learning or gravitate toward child-led learning. We try instead to focus on God-led learning and ask for His input and perspective on every aspect of our home school. That way, when others fuss about what Dan and I are doing and make me second guess our decisions -- I can go back to our decision process and find God's fingerprints, reminding me that this is His way.
