Yep! You guessed it: Our first Spring picnic in Virginia! We joined several other homeschool families (and lots of preschoolers too!) at a local gem of a park about 30 minutes to the South, with a nice play area and a stream and open fields. We spent the day meeting new folks ( we didn't know many people in the group we were joining), playing with new friends, (Clara especially enjoyed her time with another girl her age...), eating, and poking sticks in the stream. I am hoping to find some rain boots so we can walk in the stream when we go back. I was told yesterday by a reliable source that the stream has leeches, so I wasn't too keen on letting the kids in with that knowledge. Don't you just love spring? I've been through VA on my way to Williamsburg and again on my way to D.C. A good cyber-buddy author-friend lives in Bumpass. Do you know where that is? It's a bump on the road, basically. The one thing I couldn't get over while driving from NC to VA were the tree-lined freeways. Trees, trees, trees, and all the kind where the leaves fall off. I live in WA state and we have trees, too, but the kind that have needles and stay green. The gorgeous orange, yellow, and red trees in October (when I was there) are beautiful. But they seemed to never, ever end on our trip!
We love Spring too AND picnics! We'll have to have a Summer picnic when you guys come and then on a rainy day we can hit Chuck E. Cheese...it's my new favorite place to play and C likes it too. lol :) Beautiful pictures of beautiful kids! Love you all!
The picnic looks lovely. I'm glad you could enjoy such a fine spring day. We got to enjoy a similar park on Tuesday. Then it snowed here on Thursday...crazy weather!
That looks like so much fun !!! I would join ours in our area but most or practically all in non Christian. So I haven't pushed myself to get there to the meetings. I would have to spend A LOT of money to transport 5 of us on the bus. ( which is a issue in it's self) Soooo I focus on other get togethers. [0= I pray you all meet some GREAT friends. It can be a lot of fun in those groups.
Sendin you blessings and ((hugs)) my SSiC

The bottom line is; We try not to insist on parent-led learning or gravitate toward child-led learning. We try instead to focus on God-led learning and ask for His input and perspective on every aspect of our home school. That way, when others fuss about what Dan and I are doing and make me second guess our decisions -- I can go back to our decision process and find God's fingerprints, reminding me that this is His way.
