Playing Dog Go to Bed

While we were making dinner tonight, the boys were in the basement playing Doggie go to bed. I walked down stairs to get something from the pantry and got to watch thier play for a few minutes.

As I walked down, it was Bryce's turn to be the doggie. He crawled into the dog house, the hole in the hearth. Micah says "Go to sleep doggie. Say prayers." Then he folds his hands and starts to pray. "Dear Jesus. Thank you for the blocks. Thank you for Doggie Bryce. (and some other things I didn't understand) Amen." "Night Night doggie."  The he walked over to a bean bag. layed down and covered himself up.

It was so fun to watch the boys playing so nicely.

Following the Star

Today we read about the Wise Men following the star to find the new baby King. Bryce didn't understand why King Herod would care if there was a new king of the babies. So we talk about how Kings have power and they don't like to give it up, but Jesus was the new King of Heaven and Earth. It was a fun discussion and so neat to hear how he viewed this bible story. After reading the story we went to the basement where I hid Elmo. The boys had to follow the "star" (flashlight) to find Elmo and then they pretended to give Elmo gifts. It was a fun activity.

Bryce also wrote a birthday card for a party tomorrow, Micah drew the picture, and made a Christmas card to send to the child that Nana and PopPop sponser. We will learn more about her tonight when we go over to have dinner and watch a movie on the big screen.

Another Successful Day

Today we read about the angels telling the shepherds the good news. We also worked on learning how to sing high and low notes. It was fun the boys thought I was talking about how they were standing while they sang, then they thought it meant volume are a few more tries they started to figure it out.

Bryce read 3 more books on his way to reading 100 books. He is currently at 14 books. It is so much fun to listen to him read and see the look of pride on his face when he completes a book. He also started to learn about addition. I am continuely amazed at how quickly he picks things up.

Learning about Christ's Birth

This week we are studing the birth of Jesus in History. It is fun to read the stories of Christmas as we near the Christmas season. The boys have been having fun playing with the nativity set.

Bryce wrote out his verse for Awana "All your words are true.." His writing is progressing so nicely, he does a great job of doing his copy work. He also matched 1 thru 10 with the correct number of objects and number words. Then he completed two pages in Explode the Code 2 and read The Hot Dogs story from our HOP workbook.

Micah colored two sheets working on the colors black and green. He loves to do "school" with his big brother.
