Curriculum

A friend of mine gave me a bunch of Rod and Staff curriculum..what a blessing it was! Never used it before....have any of you? I am now trying to decide if I should buy the rest of what I need through them or if I should go with some other things. The only thing that I had already had was Saxon math for each of them. Time to get out the catalogs and start praying

I'm excited about a preschool activity book I purchased through the Old Schoolhouse. I'm going to make up a bunch of activities-in-a-bag for my kiddos to use while I'm homeschooling their siblings. Hoping that some of the ladies at church will join me....say you have 10 people who want to make activity bags, each person would make up 10 of the same bags and then trade. You then end up with 10 different activity bags.

I'm looking for ideas to keep my 2 year old busy while I school. She has a bag of play dough and dough tools that are exclusively used during school time. She also has a "school book" that she colors in and then of course there's snack time and nap time.

Any ideas from you experienced homeschool mamas would be greatly appreciated!

You mentioned Activities in a Bag. Tonight Homeschoolestore.com is offering a free unit study called Activities in a Bag for their delayed Mother's Day Special. You have to be registered to receive them. You may have already received it. I just downloaded it and it looks interesting.

For preschoolers - I found some cute activity books at Barnes and Noble called Kumon First Steps Workbooks and I recommend them. I bought three - Let's Fold, Let's Cut Paper, and Let's Sticker and Paste. They were $5.95 each. I kept them on hand for when mine wanted something to do.

Good luck! I know it can be difficult to keep a little one occupied while the others are busy.

We use Rod and Staff for English and love it.
Rod and Staff is very teacher and student friendly.
Everything our children need to know is right there ON their student pages of the English book,. They can read through the lesson and do the exercises.
It's easy to use. We do most of the English orally and don't do every single exercise unless I can see we need more practice. It's very easy to tweak and use as you like. :) Many people LOVE their preschool books/coloring books too.
Just pray about it and see what the Lord wants you to do! :)

I adore HABA toys for my little ones. They are high quality wood toys, most with some kind of educational twist. I buy mine from an online store (turtlesdreams.com) but you could browse e-bay to see what I am talking about. We have various stacking and sorting toys. They also have play food, lacing cards, etc.
