My husband and I went through Financial Peace University and learned that our house payment should only be 25-30% of our income. We are spending at least 55%! Way out of the average. So we have decided to sell our beautiful family home that we have come to love. It has been a 8 month process. We put it on the market back in September of 2006. It did not sell so we took it off the market until now. We have repainted most of the rooms and updated some things even though the home is almost 4 years old.
My husband did some fasting and praying last week for direction as there are approximately 8000 homes in our area for sale and the market has been very slow. We are not using a Realtor to save us thousands of dollars. On top of that, we have no place to move to, so this is going to be a miracle of its own.
When my husband was a teenager a special old woman told him how much Jesus loved him and told him how special he was and that God had a plan for his life. Thus, one of the many reasons he is a pastor today. Anywho, she will be 80 years old this year and needs taken care of. We have been visiting her once a week, during a course of a month. On the day he was in prayer and had fasted we had dinner with her and she asked us to move in with her! My husband would love for us to take care of her as she has so many others. She is a jewel.
Well, to make a long story short, my husband put out a fleece. We are hoping to sell our home by next week. So I covet all of your prayers. I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for us and for this precious woman, Flora.

So Allie, my almost 14yr old, is memorizing the Gettysburg Address. So, she asks me, "Mom, can you recite it?" I didn't want to let the poor girl down, so I began, "Four score and 7 years ago, our Fathers....um.....who art in Heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." I did get a laugh out of her.
So, Matt, my dear husband, comes from my bedroom and Allie asks him the same question. Much to my surprise, he says exactly what I said. (Great minds think alike!) Only this time my 8yr old son, Eric, is in the kitchen and only catches a little of the conversation. He comes storming into the living room to correct his dad. He states very as-a-matter-of-factly, "It is not Our Father who FARTS in heaven!"
It reminds me of a prayer that he used to say when he was very little. He prayed this very innocently, "Now, I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. The angels watch me through the *butt* (should be*night*) until I wake till morning light." I am sure the Lord knew what he wanted to say.
Do I have any? Well, I have not made them in the past because I have not been able to complete them. I probably have too high of expectations on myself, nah, that isn't it. So, let me think.
I want to be able to homeschool all 3 children at the same time. I want them to succeed and I want to be a cheerful mom when I do it. Sometimes I feel like a "warden" with a whip. Do your homework, do your homework, do your homework!
I hope to instill good manners and help my oldest do well in Math, and actually like it. She is a lot like me!
You know this sounds more like goals and not resolutions. Oh well, I will have to think about it a lot more! Good Day!
I have been working hard on turning my attention from everyone else to taking care of just my family. I have posted it in my new blog at:

I look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for me and my family.
