against the flow

are we beyond repair?

Are we beyond repair? Is there anything we can do, to turn this country around? Should we just give up, and let this mass of evil that is the USA rampage freely without check? How can we, an everyday person even dream of turning it around? This once great and God fearing country use to be a gift from The Almighty. We at one time knew what it meant to be a part of a true and free country, but those days are long gone. This is not some fairytale you read to your children, this is not some story that starts long ago in a galaxy far way. This is the truth of what has happened to this corrupt place we call home.

There was a time when all people in America were treated with a sort of respect. There was a time when no one locked their doors; there was no need of such precautions. We at one time could and did trust almost everyone. There was no fear of evil befalling you for trusting a stranger. We use to know each other, before TV and the internet took control of people’s free time. And our government really did look after us, not make things harder by making new departments and stupid law that should be a no brainer.

There was even a time not long ago that we had good clean TV show and movies. But not now, think of the movies that you like best and the TV show you love, now think, are they shows that have good morals, or are they full of unclean corrupt things? I bet it’s the later. Almost all our movies are full of violence, drugs, sex, cursing, and just plain old bad thing. There are very rarely good, clean, funny, pure movies these days. Kid’s movies aren’t even clean anymore. Think about a new kids movie, now think hard, how much filth is thrown into them? I’m not going to go into many of them, but I’ll list off some kid’s and family movies that I’ve seen that have filth in them. Horton Hears A Who, Cat In The Hat, all the Shrek’s, Enchanted, both the Ice ages, and that’s just a few. Then the movies that don’t have filth in them are full of evolution. The bee Movie, all the Land Before Time’s, Dinosaurs, and that’s just a few.

Those are kid’s movies that have filth in them, kid’s movies, how much worse are the ones we watch.  I want you to try something, the next time you watch a movie keep a piece of paper and a pen with you. Wright down everything you see or hear that is bad; swearing, sex, gays, drunks, theft and thing of the sort. Then look at who the movie is advertised to; like kids, families, or what. Now keep in mind, if it’s a war movie there will of course be violence, but if it’s a movie that is not known to be a war movie its violence gets marked against it. Wright down what it was that was bad and if it could have been avoided without changing the movie.

Now this does not just stop at movies, TV shows, and music are like this also. Do the same this when watching TV and when you listen to music. But once again it does not stop there. It not only our entertainment that is full of filth and immoral things, try this. Go online and look up what your state or city is trying to accomplish, see how many things there push for and then see how many are good and line up with the Bible. For instance, I recently heard that South Bend IN, was trying to pass a bill that would fours all businesses to add a special bathroom for homosexuals. Luckily it did not pass but it doesn’t change the fact that they tried. Think a minute to what that would do, did you know that a church in the eyes off the State is a business, and if that law was passed every church in the city would have no choice, they would have to put bathrooms for both gays and lesbians’. What would we do then?

Think for a minute, what do you think these things have done to us as a howl? What do you think will happen if things continue the way and rate that they are? How far have we strayed just in the short 18 years I’ve been alive? Why is this? We have given the devil our world. What have we saved for God? Is there anything that we keep pure, and holy, or sacred? We can’t say our courts have been kept pure or Godly. We can’t say our media has been kept pure. We can’t say our television or movie companies have been kept pure. We can’t even say the Church has been kept pure, holy or sacred. It has gotten out of hand and out of control.

Our television and movie industries have been consumed by greed and envy. They only want the money, and they don’t care how they get it. And every time they put out something new we (as a hole) flak to it and our morals go farther and farther from where they were and where God wants them to be. They put out a TV show, that seems like it might be good, and then slowly slip in all kinds of filth (sex, homosexual thing, bad morals). And with movies, you can’t even go by the rating cuz it changes all the time. For instance, a pg13 rating can have the f word in it once. And a pg can have a set number of cues words. And there are leaves of cues words, like, moderate, heavy. Now we know that a cues word is a cues word. There are leaves of sex scenes as well. Yea did you know that? A pg13 movie can have a sex scene as long as they don’t show everything and if it’s short enough. A pg movie can show a sort of nudity, the actors can be naked as long as they don’t show anything, now if it’s between the two I would rather them be naked but not show anything. But that doesn’t change that fact that IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE IN THE MOVIE.

Our media pushes for us to be very thin and tan. Both of these are not good for you. They push birth control, which I don’t think God want us to do. He wants us to have many kids and fill the earth.  They push do what feels good, when we know that God has told us the way to live.

Our courts haven’t been kept in line with what really matters. They have instead of using what is right and wrong to make the decisions, they’ve been using what is accepted. I think they have forgotten that some things are wrong no matter what new things are going on around us. The right and wrong doesn’t change just because more people are doing them, all that means is more people are doing wrong things.

Now what can we do about it? Most people say, there’s nothing we can do. It’s already gone to far and we might as well just get use to it. Well I say THEY JUST DON’T CARE ENOUGH. There are things we can do. We (the Christians in the USA) are just to lazy to get up off our pews. We can change thing. We have the power to do anything we want. There are all kinds of things we could do to start turning things around. For starters, we need to stop contributing to the corrupt things in our country (most TV shows, music, movies…) as long as we keep going along with things they will not change.  If you want to complain about anything if you’re not trying to fix them YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAN.

You can’t give the excuse “there is nothing I can do” cuz there is. If you are upset with the way the schools in your town are teaching the youth then get out there and get on the school board, or help make programs for the youth to do, to help them in the areas you feel the school is lacking in. if you problem the way your town is being ran, then get on the town board, or at least attend the town meetings.  If you have a problem with the TV and Movie industries are ran stop supporting the ones you don’t agree with. If you’re like me and can’t stand all the gay rights stuff then don’t support their supporters.

Now I’m not going to lie, it’s hard to do this. I know.  You see when I was 16 I got a job at Wal-Mart, I worked there for 6 months. But I heard that Wal-Mart joined National Gays of America. And needless to say, I couldn’t do that. So I walked out. Needless to say, they didn’t like that. But it couldn’t stop there; we (me and my family, my household) would not shop there. Now this is a little different for my household, my mom has a business in her house. We take care of elderly people. So we buy a lot of stuff, like $200+ every week. That’s a lot, and that’s with the cheap prices Wal-Mart has. So I would not let my mom shop there so instead of $200 it turned into like $300 at smaller food stores.

But on a good note, Wal-Mart has broken for that partnership and fired the person who made it happen. So we shop there again. If you are going to punish something for doing something you strongly oppose, you must reward them for trying to make things better. Now remember this is not what you must do. This is the only way I think we can make a difference; this is what I think we should do.  If you feel you would like to do this as well, I’d be very glad, but don’t feel like I’m telling you to.

We are the world to come. If we decide we want thing different then it falls to us to change it. And the way we do that is be living our lives different the world does and opposite to the way we’re being pushed.  The only power this world has is the power we give it. Believe it or not you and I can set the standard and the rest of the world will have to follow. Now this can only work if enough of us make this radical change. And we must make it completely we can’t only do it sometimes or in some places, it much be with everything and all the time. We will have to raise our children the same way so that they will keep the world. We have lost our saltines, and it’s time to get it back.

I understand that people are offended when they see things on TV and in movies.

Another problem is is if they leave out these modern subjects then the movies wouldn't be very realistic. And those that are offended or not offended may *become* offended when they begin to believe they're being lied to by the TV or film makers.

When I go to see an R-rated movie I expect to see some bad things. I'd be a hypocrite to not expect it. The world we live in can be very scary and I don't want to be told that it never is.

Because THAT would be a lie.

ok, Alex, thank you for being honest, i really oppreciate it. now i dont at all mean that the movies or TV shows should not tell what might be going on. But for instence we know that people have sex, thats a fact, but it doesnt mean i want to see it in a TV show or a movie. yes the world we live in is scary and i would not say that all movies need to or should be all nice and perfect, but they can show things ina diferant way. like if they want to tell us that some one had sex they can do that and not show it, they did that for years.
and yes i know that there are more people that dont care but the ones that do care should be able to easly find movies or shows that dont have filth. and yes i know that when i see an R-rated movie there is a reason that it is R, but when i go and see a kids movie, and they put hiden things that the older people get and not the kids it makes me mad. when i go to a family movie i want it to be clean.
you can make a film that shows the truth without adding sex, and thats my big thing. but i dont want to hear swaring ether, and i know that in some movies it would change the story not to have them, but i stiil dont like it.. its not always nessasary.

Yes, it is very sad that we have come so far from being able to be friends with everyone and actually trusting them. Some days I wish we could go back and live in the old days.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. We don't watch too many new movies because of the content. I totally agree that when we watch a children's movie it should contain things that are appropriate for children.

Unfortunately, though, more adults go and see those movies too. It is really sad to me that our culture is so childish that they would rather watch cartoon movies than real ones. I guess they don't know the verse: 1 Corinthians 13:11 "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." They have not put away their childish things and so the movie makers have to appease not only the children, but the childish adults too. Hence they put very sinful things in those movies.

I agree with you on the doing something to an extent. While we can set an example, I do not think that it is the Christians place to change the world in that sense. We live in a sinful and dark world, if we want to make a difference then we can try not to be sinful and be a light in the darkness. We cannot legislate morality.

I do not think that setting getting on the school board or setting up programs for teens is the answer. I disagree with getting children and teens saved if you don't minister to the parents. It is a burden for children and teenagers to be a witness to their unsaved parents for them to bear. The children still have to obey their parents even when they are saved. It would be much better to get the parents involved first. Getting the family as a whole back together is the answer. Teens need to be in their families, not in programs.

Like you, when we found out about Wal-Mart and the homosexual agenda, we stopped shopping there. We also stopped using other products whose companies supported that agenda too.

I like what you said about us being the world to come. That is so very true. We are going to be the next generation. We need to set the precedence. Setting an example of holiness for the world to see.

Brett, this is a very true and good article. You have some really really good points.
Thanks for sharing it!
Prayers and Blessings,
Miss Amanda

hey, thanx for the input, i mean it, thank you.
ok so, im glad you were honest. and i see where your comeing from, but adults are harder to change then youth, and its easyer for a kid to show Jesus to there parents then some one else. i do agree that we need to give more strainth to the family. and i also agree that being in lots of programs can and does take away from the the family, but not all of them do this. when you find a good youth program (at least the ones i'v been in) the family is invited to partisopate, and lots of the time the leaders of the programs want then to be more invalved and they (the parents) just don't.
as for the obaying there parents, i do agree, but what is more important, haveing a family that does things together, or haveing a saved family (witch should bring them together)? i know that its heard to have the truth and your parents dont. but i would rather stay like that then have the same wrong beleives as the rest of my family.
and when i said to get invalved in things like helping youth programs, geting on school bords and that sort. i mean those who believe and really want to change things. its more to those who's kids are all grone, but not just them. i vary strongly believe that by haveing good lights to the world in those plases will make things slowly change for the beter. if you want good truthfull thing in schools you need to have good truthfull people on the school bord. and the same go's for every other bord. but i do know that this is not the only way to go about purifing this curuped world, its just the way i think i can do the most good, so i pass what i am trying to do to you, do with it what you will

You are welcome for the comment. I still don't agree with teen programs. I think it should be family programs where they attend as a family, but we can agree with disagree on that point. ;)
The point of this article is a really a great one, and I am glad that you posted it!
Take care and have a good nite!
