Continuing on with family and marriage, I want to talk about raising the kids. Again this is how I want to raise my kids; this is what I see as being the best way to raise Godly children who will spend their life’s doing God’s work. I know there may be or could be thing that will make it hard to do this but remember this is my plane and as you all keep telling me and what I DO know, plane can change, thing can happen to prevent all my planes from turning out the way I want them to, but I am still going to try to do them the way I’m planning.
Where to start…ok we will start with bed time stories, what are good or proper bed time stories for children being raised to do great th`ings for God? I so strongly think all “holiday” character stories and all “Disney” type stories are WRONGE. I will not tell my children any “fairy tall’s”. Why not bring them up with things that matter? How about right before bed we read a passage from the Bible or a chapter from the Under God, Foxx’s Book of Martyrs, Little Pilgrims Progress, Sir Knight of the Splendid Way, even Narnia. What would be wrong with any of those, at least those are thing that will strengthen the faith, even as a child. I know they may not always understand what I’ll be reading to them, but they will know those stories, other children know The Little Mermaid, or Santa Clouse, or any of the common bed time stories.
Now what about TV or movies? Well I have already decided not to have cable, we will have a TV but it will be for movies. I don’t want movies I wouldn’t let my kids see, so that means I will have to learn to do without. There’s something you should know about me I LOVE my movies. I have more movies than my family has (we have our family movies and then I have my movies…like the one I bought or people gave me) my list of movies is prity good for a 18 year old with no “real” job. Movies like Braveheart, Patch Atoms, Lord of the Rings, and Indiana Jones to name a few. I watch all the time, but this is something that I’ve been thinking about and I think I don’t want them in my house. How can I tell my kids these movies are your and these are mine and mommies? When I think about it if I don’t want my kids to watch them, there’s a good chance God doesn’t want me to watch them. I feel that if I kept them and didn’t let my kids watch then I would be a hypocrite, and I don’t want that.
So our movies will be thing like: Left Behind 1-3, Six, Passion of the Christ, Veggie tails, One Night with the King, the odd testament character movies like Joseph, Jacob, and Abraham. Movies that will benefit all of us, one that we would really watch with Jesus, really ask what would Jesus do before turning it on and these are the only types of movies I can think of that He would watch. |

P.S. Kids rebel, its in their nature. If you DO have ten you're gonna have your hands full. Your restrictive rules will likely work in the beginning but I've got a feeling that will change.
P.P.S. You're beliefs of what Jesus would watch may not be the same of other Christians. If you have ten kids one of them is bound to find out there's another world outside of the one you're going to try to make for them.
P.P.P.S. I'm speaking out of the experience of watching and learning from other families. I don't have my own kids of course.
