After a week of absence due to a combination of illness and technical difficulties I'm back on live today at 1pm for my Bible Study Webcast. I will be continuing the study of the life of Joseph the Patriarch as a model for our lives. So join me there and join in teh chat by going to http://www.reformedhomeschooler.info/ just enter a name in the chatbox password is optional.
Don't forget the Wednesday Book Time show at the same time. See you there.
Unfortunately late last week I pulled a muscle in my back, it is gettin better now, but I was in a lot of pain so I couldn't concentrate when I was preparing for today's Bible Study. I try and get the work completed on Thursday and Friday evenings. It is also the reason I did not broadcast Friday's Dad Stuff show.
So today I will be doing a very abridged version of the study unless we get soem good discussion going on the chat.
So do join me at 1pm eastern today and we'll see how it goes.
Thanks again to those who watched the first Episode of Book Time. You can find the recording of the broadcast below.
Highlights:. Introduced first book club books. 2 Biographies on General Stonewall Jackson. Homesvhool Pick of the week "Chosen Daughters" Series from P&R Publishing. Announced Family Reading Contest.
Ok I have everything ready to go for the first "REAL" installment of my booktime. I have all the bugs worked out so I would love to have you all join me Wednesday at 1pm to approximately 1:30 Eastern at www.reformedhomeschooler.info under ther live feed you'll see an option to join in the chat. Please join in as this is meant to be interactive. Tommorow I'll be announcing 2 books for the first book club one book for adults and one for young adults, the great thing about the books I chose is that though you and your child will be reading different books they are on teh same topic so it's a great opporunity to talk about a common subject.
I'll also be announcing a new book contest.
As always if you missed the live show I'll post the recording here sometime after the show tomorrow, but please try and drop by say hello and join the discussion
This is shorter than I will normally broadcast I am still working all the details out on the broadcasting side so it took away from the actual Bible Study part. I have everything tuned up now and down the way I like so future broadcasts should flow a little better.
Don't forget to join me Wednesday at 1PM for my next "Book Time" show.
Thanks again all those how joined me live I hope to utilize the chat portion more in the next show. You can join in the conversation during any of my live shows by going to www.reformedhomeschooler.info and entering the chat page under the broadcast window.
Bible Study The Life of Joseph - PART I

Because of Technical Difficulties the web cast I had scheduled for today at 1:00pmEST will not be on, but I will be starting the regular schedule onm Monday, more to be posted about that later today.
My first webcast a few minor bugs but things went well I think. I did a quick introduction to whom I am and a little bit about what I am about. I briefly introduced the book "When You Rise Up" which will be a book I going in more depth in a future episode or as a book club discussion book.
Thanks for those who watched it was nice to see viewers so I know I wasn't just talking to myself.
So if you missed it you can watch it now
You can enter the contest I mentioned by making a video and posting it on you tube or writing an email answering the question I asked in the broadcast. If you post a video on you tube please mention my website www.reformedhomeschooler.info just send an email to brian@upperroomchristianbooks.com

Oh yeah I mentioned a CONTEST in my title for this post, I will be giving details about a contest in this video so watch to find out how you can enter.
Ok so I've been away well I'll be getting a little more active in my blogging again soon. I've been working on the idea of so more interactive type things and I'm going to start posting a video blog. But for today here's a little video I made last fall.
I'll let you know what else I'm up to in a day or 2 (hopefully)
Also I will be posting a schedule for my live video stream which will have a variety of shows.
I want to appologize for my absence here lately, I have been very busy (not an excuse really I should be able to make some time for you)
We've had a rough few weeks My wife was in 2 Car Accidents in one week Yesterday and exactly a week before, we've been without power since Tuesday, we lost it Monday night it came back on and we lost it again Tuesday and it looks like it might be next Tuesday before it's back. On top of the two car accidents (wife was not hurt in either and no major dammage to either vehicle) a week before teh van sliding door fell off at midnight when my wife was getting home from a Homeschooling moms meeting.
At about 1 minute and 10 seconds my kids make a brief appearance playing with Teddy Bears donated by the Red Cross. It was actually kind of funny we went to the locval High School this morning because they had power and we could shower there and while we were there they turned it into an emergency shelter and the Red Cross arrived to unload beds blankets etc. so I pitched in and helped unload and then 2 of the National Networks' news teams arrived and we were the only family there because nobody in the community knew about it yet, so they interviewed us, and we aren't even planning on staying there, kind of ironic.
My wife's dad is coming from Nova Scotia to hook up his Generator for us for the next few days so hopefully we'll be fine, it was 40 degrees in the house and we are worried about the pipes freezing. It is suppose to go down to -16 celcius tonight. It was mild yesterday and today so some of the beautiful aspects of an ice storm are gone (such as ice on trees etc.). Our basement has some seepage from the melting ice and I can't shop vac it up without any power so hopefully tonight we'll be ok with the generator.
Ok I've been very negligent in this part of the reason was I was getting very discouraged that nobody seemed to be commenting on the study posts so i wasn't sure if anybody was really doing this with me.
So I am going to begin it again but I want to do something a little different. I have been experimenting with some live web casts for my business and am thinking of doing a live interactive webcast. I'm on video and participants can type questiosn comments etc and participate in a discussion. I have 3 days available to do this. It would be sometime between 9am and 3pm EST so I have a poll below with options for the days I'm available. I would make it one regular day. I will probably do a test web cast later this week and begin on the regular day next week if I get any interest. The actual web casts will be recorded so you can view afterwards as well and still participate. The ide of the web cast is it makes it interactive. So it can be more of a discussion format.
Picture from my Kitchen window not to bad at first glance this part of the driveway usually blows itself clean so it looks good but notice the 3 houses across the street? They really are there.
So this is out our front door we live on the major Highway on the way to Summerside (one of our Island's 2 cities.)
This islooking out the front door again thats our chestnut tree this one is looking through the screen door hence the grid.
This is another we opened the door and took a picture down the highway, thats a highway directional sign thats on the corner of our property
Another out our front window notice the Highway again?
The part of my driveway that generally doesn't blow clear at the end by the highway.
Out our back window, our Standard Homeschool Issue Mini-Van, our small chicken barn where we keep our layers in the winter and our empty Turkey barn.
More out our back window thats our larger chicken barn we use it for storage in the winter and the cat lives there
Another out back thats an 8 ft door on the far barn so you get an idea how high the snow is there is a snow drift that appeared today that is higher than the far barn
I am developing a website www.history4homeschoolers.org (I have been working on this concept for a while) and I am getting ready to launch in September but I need some actual students to test teh system to work out any bugs etc. So I'm looking for Homeschool students to be beta testers. Looking for High School Aged Homeschool Students.
Our goal is to start our first course March 15th it will run for approximately 15 weeks (or topics)
There will be no cost to this course for Registered Beta Testers. Texts will be made available on-line, though can be purchased.
I'm looking for fellow Canadian Homeschoolers, if you are one or know one send me a message or comment on this post and I'll get a hold of you. Nothing big, I'm just looking for information on different homeschooling organizations across teh country and experiences of different homeschoolers for a new project I'm working on.
